i' m hoping that the Disney Gods will smile down upon me and I will get to spend tomorrow evening at California Adventure! This will leave all of Thursday for Disneyland. I'm hoping we could be in the park around 5.

It will be me, 46, and Mil, 72. Will all fast passes be gone? What do you think we could realistically see and do. She's not up for thrills, but I would be, maybe via single rider lines? I would love to take her on Soarin! I know she would love shows and parades. I'd love to hear any suggestions you have!

Thanks!
Katy

Can't comment about the FP question but one thing I really love is to be in CarsLand when the sun goes down, the music plays and the neon lights up. Just like in the movie.

RSR fast passes will most likely be gone by then but probably not Soarin'. I would go to Soarin' first and pull a FP then head to Cars Land and do single rider for RSR. Your MIL can sit out and explore CL if she doesn't want to ride (I think she'd love it though - not too crazy). Then see what else you can fit in before your Soarin' return time. I bet she would love the Ferris wheel (not the swinging carts). The other thing to consider is WOC - maybe catch the late show?

I agree that RSR FPs will be gone by 5:00 pm, but you have a chance at the other attractions. (You didn't mention characters, but Olaf will likely be finished for the day as well.) You can use SRL to help reduce the wait for RSR, but note that you will (most likely) be split up. I agree with calilou's suggestion to go get a Soarin' FP as you enter the park, then head to RSR to use the SRL, unless you want to ride RSR at night (then you'll have to wait until later in the evening). I don't know if WoC will have any FPs remaining, but you might also stop by there after getting the RSR FP if you're interested in seeing WoC.

Thanks! I watched a video of RSR and it looks great! Mil is having a medical procedure today. If she's feeling up to it, we both will ride!

if this is MIL first time on RSR, some caution. I see that you are 46, i am 59, RSR gives me vertigo that I have not had before. So it is my last ride of the day as I not sure how I will respond. I cannot imagine myself riding it much more as I age, so for a 71 year old there could be issues.

My mother rode RSR at the age of 90 with no problems and she rode Splash Mountain and Star Tours. Everyone is different. We did have to help her in and out of the ride vehicles, but she loved it! All the grandchildren (all adults) would say we want to be just like NANA when we grow up.

well.....I would categorize splash, star tours and RSR as thrill rides.....and it does look harmless from the outside, but the ups and downs and that freeway clover leaf at a gut wrenching terrific speed can create medical issues not seen on the video tape for the MIL. though it reads like DIL will find a nice bench and nice drink for MIL and single rider by herself, which is not a bad idea at night , with all those wonderful lights.

The last Aladdin show is a bit after 6 so you could probably hit that first thing after getting your Soarin FP's. The Pixar Play ParAde might be coming through as you enter around 5. A reservation for the WOC dinner package at Carthay Circle might provide needed air conditioned rest and will get you your Fast Passes for that show taken care of. I haven't seen the new show, but I think it has a bit of historical Walt Disney footage that your MIL might enjoy, and the colored fountains are always beautiful.

The Little Mermaid ride is super gentle, as is Monsters Inc. Both are super cute, too. A Bugs Land is fun to walk through even if none of the rides appeal to you, and there is a little water splash area to cool off at. She might enjoy Grizzly River Run, which I suppose could be a little rough, but it is a large raft and you will get good and wet!

Have fun!!

I think the only rides with Fast Passes in California Adventure are California Screamin, Soarin, Tower of Terror, Goofy's Sky School, and Radiator Springs Racers. So as long as you get some for Soarin you probably won't want any of the others for both of you. But maybe one for just you on the Tower of Terror...

I definitely recommend seeing the 6:20 Aladdin show! It's fantastic, you both will love it. It is a time commitment though since the show runs for about 50min. When you get there at 5pm I would check on Soarin' FP. You'll want a return time for after 7pm if you decide to see Aladdin. Grab a FP for Tower of Terror when you get out of the Aladdin show (if it's been long enough since you grabbed Soarin' FP - it will say on the bottom of you FP when you can grab another one). Remember, you can do single rider on RSR and CA Screamin'. Soarin' also has a single rider line, but in my experience that line is just as long as standby.

you can totally do shows and even though she is not up for thrills radiator springs racers is a fast car ride not really rough at all! and you can join the mad hatter tea party!

Carsland after dark is fun. No need to ride the rides (my 86 year old stepmother can't handle them), but listening to the music and seeing the lights is pretty magical. I'm not sure there are many rides that would be appropriate aside from Monster's Inc and Little Mermaid, both of which I love. The good news on both of those is that they rarely have a long line. I like the Frozen sing along show. You used to need a fastpass, but someone in a recent forum post mentioned that may not be the case anymore. The Animation Academy is also fun as you learn to draw iconic characters.

Have fun!

and on the tower of terror she can walk with you right up to loading then exit the facility

Thanks all! She will pass on RSR. She had a little medical procedure today, and even though both Drs said all was ok, except tea cups, I don't want to be responsible for bleeding! Aladdin sounds perfect! I appreciate your help!
