I know there is a kids menu for Calif grill but should kids, elementary age, eat there? It seems like more of an adult and quiet place.

It may not be specifically geared to young children, but it isn't quiet. And there are always kids there.

We took our 5 yo niece. But it was Christmas Eve and she is extremely well-behaved. I think kids who are good in restaurants are fine after 5 yo. It's a very nice restaurant, but it is Disney.

We were there in October with our boys who are 7 & 4 and they did great. There were a lot of kids in the restaurant.

Absolutely bring the kids! My kids loved the food and the atmosphere. It was great fun looking down at the Magic Kingdom. And this was my favorite part - the waiter cut my son's steak so I could just enjoy my meal! My kids are better than some in restaurants, but Disney restaurants are all prepared for kids and have great kid-friendly food, waitstaff, and crayons!

It can be a long meal, but if your kids can handle a longish meal, its fine for kids.

I am worried about this too; we have a 9:20 res and I am sure my 7 yr old will be so tired. I am considering canceling but no other times are available :sad2:

I was nervous about going in with our 4 children aged 2-13 at the time. But it was fine. They were very well behaved thankfully- And the server was very attentive and didn't appear to be annoyed by the kids being there. Of course we were spending $$$$ so I guess they didn't care who was there as long as they were drinking and eating.

No way would my guys be able to stay up this late! I probably couldn't either, though. :lmao:

We tried the late sitting at the luau one year (the kids were 5 and 7) and ended up having to carry the little guy out before the show was over and taking a cab back to our resort.

Does your family usually eat a late dinner? I just can't imagine my family (me and DH included) waiting until 9:20 to sit down to dinner.

We just got back and had a 5:55 ADR with our DD5. She loved it there, and the server really went out of her way to be as accomodating as possible. As soon as she realized our DD was tired after traveling all day, she brought out a small dish of goldfish crackers and some chopsticks, and that kept her entertained wile my DH and I finished up our meal.

The California Grill was probably the loudest restraunt we dined in all week. I'm not sure if it is the abundace of glass or what, but the accoustics were horrible. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a child, as the adults were all much louder than any of the children in there when we went.

Have fun, and enjoy! (you may want to schedule in a rest during the day if you have such late ADR's.) The California Grill is easily a 2 hour meal, so there is no way we could have made a late ADR with our DD5. Heck, even I coulndn't stay up past 11 for a reservation. ;)
