We were at The Polynesian from 4/7/06-4/12/06. We had 7pm ADR's for CG for our last night. It was noted that it was for my 50th birthday and what a surprise ! We were in the Wine Room and it was so wonderful because the noise level was much lower than the regular "open" restaurant. Robert and David were so attentive and gave us all the time we needed to relax, order a cocktail, place a dinner order, etc. The food was served hot. I was concerned as it was me, DH, niece (24 with Celiac's) DS, DBIL, and 2 nieces (9 & 11).
The flatbread is awesome. The 9 & 11 yo shared it for an appetizer and we had another for the adults. There were 2 sushi appetizers ordered (one was a sampler and one included eel) and I was told they were also delicious. The Caesar salad was also special ordered for my niece with Celiac's.
The meals were delicious. Menu appears to have changed. I had the Oak Fired Beef Filet which was cooked to perfection along with the potatoes and string beans. DH had a lamb dish with mashed potatos; 11 yo and 2 adults had the Mahi Mahi, 1 adult had a sclallop and potato dish and the 9 yo had a childrens pizza..... All food was hot and delicious!!!!
The Chef actually came out and spoke with my niece regarding her food allergies and he prepared a delicious meal for her (Mahi Mahi) without the items she could not have and made sure her vegetables were without sauces.
Dessert was delicious. A piece of choclate mousse cake was presented to me (I have seen the pictures on the Food Pic site!) We were all too full to order and being on the DP I know we "wasted" an item, but believe me, we just couldn't eat it.
I highly recommend this restaurant and feel if you are on the DP or have children, there is no need to worry about finding something you would like. They actually have the beautiful table covered with a sheet of paper so that children can write notes or color. They bring them crayons.
Dress was all over the place. We wore business casual (khaki's and golf shirts for the men, women had on capri's and a top, and the little ones had on linen skirts and tops)...but we saw more formal and less casual than we had on. It is a magnificent view, we did go out on the Observation deck and took pictures...and were not rushed at all. They said that if we were done with dinner/desserts/coffee earlier than 10pm, we could come back for the fireworks on the Observation deck.
A wonderful last night at Disney with superb staff attention!!!!!
