Cali Grill vs Boathouse for Romance?

Looking at photos on disney food blog of The Boathouse, I must say it looks a bit boring aesthetically. For a romantic evening, should I keep my 9:25pm Cali Grill ressie or my 5:30pm Boathouse Reservation? To me, Cali has more ambiance. I have never seen The Boathouse in person so I can only go by the pictures I've seen. I know it will be a good meal either way. Also we're staying at the Poly (first time at a monorail resort), so the thought of taking the monorail to dinner seems pretty cool.

I'd definitely stick with Cali grill. Haven't been to the boathouse but while, the menu looks good I don't get anything romantic from the vibe at all. While Cali can be a bit loud id ask for a seat by the window to amp up the romance factor. Hope you enjoy

While the Boathouse isn't exactly romantic, the food is delicious!! I have not been to Cali Grill so I'm not much help there.

Cali Grill! It's one of my favorite restaurants. We went there on our "date night" in November while my parents watched the kids. It was wonderful!

Given you are on the monorail, I would stick with Cali Grill. The view is stunning, so is definitely a notch above the Boathouse for the romance factor. If I were judging just on food, though, I would go with the Boathouse. It's really good!

Cali is more romantic unless you want to take an amphicar ride.

Not been to the Boathouse, but Downtown Disney will have traffic congestion for an extended period.

CG is too hit or miss if looking for romance. It can be loud and still has too many children and people in Park attire if looking for a quiet meal.

Is Victoria & Albert out of the question? Or consider a short cab ride to either any Swan & Dolphin Signature or Capa (14-stories atop) inside Four Season.

But I only could chose between Boathouse & CA Grill……CA Grill is a lovely view, and at 9:25 you may be able to catch some fireworks.

I haven't been to Boathouse yet, but since the refurb a few years ago, CG is the last place I'd go for romance. It used to be quiet and upscale and romantic, but now it's bright and loud and crowded feeling. Maybe it would be less noisy later in the evening, though, so you maybe okay.

California Grill! We've been to CG many times, and just had our first visit to The Boathouse. I may be in the minority, but it just didn't do anything for me or my husband....

Hmmmm..Read MANY great reviews on Boathouse food! Can't wait to try it on October. .:hyper:Been to CalGrill and watching Wishes was AWESOME! Heard the beef is super at Boathouse! Enjoy!:cheer2:

We did California Grill back in Sept 2014...........for romance you would only do better and V & A (IMHO). The setting is just magnificent..........add the fireworks...........and you have pixiedust:
