the only time we have been able to get at cali grill is 9;40.
we will keep looking for something earlier but if this is our only option....

1- is there any point showing up early and asking if we could be seated sooner? we have 2 children in our party so 9;40 is very late really

2- would we be allowed to go and watch the fireworks on the balcony before our meal time? wishes is at 9;30 as its the holidayy one. we want to watch the fireworks, this is one if the reaasins fir giung but this time is just so not good!

You should be allowed up to see the fireworks. You mentioned holiday show. If you are going over christmas break I doubt you can get in earlier. Now that people have to use a credit card for reservations, definitely check back with reservation system to see if you can get earlier time. Also, just to let you know if you don't want to eat that late, dine at the wave, then go up to floor and look for doors that lead to walkway to BLT, there is a huge balcony that you can watch the fireworks from our little secret.

We have never been seated early; in fact, the later in the evening, the further behind our ADR time it seems to get here. The restaurant will clear after the fireworks so you should be seated by 15 minutes after your ADR time, I would think. They probably won't seat you during the show since the lights are dimmed in the restaurant.

We once were let up early enough to see the fireworks but honestly, by the time we got up there, the observation decks were already fairly crowded and our kids weren't able to see very well.

There's probably no chance of being seated early. They may not even let you up to be seated early. For the fireworks, sure, but not to ask the host's desk if there's room available.

If there is open space in the lounge, you can ask to be seated there, though. It's actually our preference to sit in the lounge. It's far more comfortable, and the service is just as good there as it is anywhere else in the restaurant.

The credit card requirements for the reservation will have no effect on California Grill's reservations, though. They have always required a credit card hold.
