I remember last year when we went to Cali Grill they said no tank tops/flip flops etc. This year when I booked it they didn't say anything about a dress code. I was going to wear a plain white skirt with a teal tank top. It has very small straps but it is sort of "fancy". Do you think this will be okay?

I think that will be ok. Last year they really made it a point over the phone that the dress code was enforced. But when we got there, no one was following the code. We spent all that time getting ready for nothing. This year we will not worry about the code so much. Your outfit sounds great!

We had dinner there last week and it was wonderful.

When I made our ADR, the CM talked about the dress code -- she called it "resort wear." We dressed up a bit. I'd say about half of the people respected the code and the rest were much more casual. My DD11 was pretty angry with me for making her wear a skirt. I explained that it is always better to be slightly overdressed than under dressed.

If you're wearing a sleeveless top, bring along a sweater. The air conditioning made it quite cool. I had to give my sweater to DD.

Enjoy yourself.

i agree- they made a big deal about dress code to us in advance and we followed suit. we got there and folks were in sweats and flip flops and shorts. not all of them but at least 25% were not following dress code. they didn't turn anyone away beacause of it.

enjoy your meal- i've eaten here 4X now and love it!

I have never seen the dress code enforced at Cali Grill. There is too many families that come straight from/to the parks. Victoria & Alberts is a different story!
Your outfit is fine.
Enjoy!

I'm packing a nice pair of slacks, a polo shirt, and a sports coat for our meal at the California Grill. I realize that's a little on the far end of "business casual," but I think dressing up makes it more special. Are they honestly letting people in with t-shirts and flip-flops? I think it would miff me to see that.

Here's what Disney's web site has to say:

Dress Attire is Business Casual
Men: Dress slacks, jeans, trousers, or dress shorts, short or long-sleeved shirt with a collar required. Jackets are optional.

Ladies: Jeans, skirts, or dress shorts with blouse or sweater, or a dress required.

Not permitted in dining room: tank tops, swimming suits or swim suit cover ups, t-shirts, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind.

We too followed the dress code last Sept. for my mom's :bday: dinner. We changed our clothes in the room and brought along more comfortable clothes to change back into. I wore long pants and sandals with a heel. Oh, and of course I wore a top too, :rotfl2: just don't remember which one. My mom and DD also "dressed up" a little (compared to what we wear to the parks).

Being Sept. we were a little warm :sunny: in our clothes and I did notice that some of the other diners didn't seem to pay attention to the dress code. I believe I even saw some flip flops. This year I'll probably dress a little more comfortable. Capris and flat sandals (no crocs!). It didn't seem to be a problem for others last year and I'll be more comfortable. :goodvibes

I'm actually hoping that Disney does start paying attention to the dress code. Either do that or dispense with it all together.
