Cali Grill and dxddp

I did a search because I figured this is a common question but couldn't find an answer...

On the dxddp at Cali Grill, what counts as an appetizer? Does any of the flatbreads, sushi, or first course listings on the menu (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/contemporary-resort/california-grill/menus/) count as an app?

Thanks!

Things might change after CA Grill's major rehab, but in October, the flatbreads, first courses, and most of the sushi counted. The two most expensive sushi platters (Yoshie's and the Dragon) did not qualify as an appetizer, but could be ordered as an entree.

Thanks! We're going at the end of January, right before the rehab, so I'm guessing it will be the same as your experience in October!

I'm still hoping for BoG that night but CG should be a good second choice from what I read.

I've not been to BoG yet and I'm looking forward to trying it, but CG is amazing. It's one of my favorite places at WDW. It would be a tough choice for me if I had to pick between trying BoG for the first time (an unknown) and CG (a known favorite). :)

Agree with this. If there is some way to try both, you should.

Since we didn't get the park hoppers this time the only way to do both with our schedule is if we do BoG at lunch. That's possible but the day we'd do that we've got a CP breakfast that morning and then CG dinner so I figured we'd snack at lunch so as not to stuff ourselves ridiculously. Maybe DH and I could share a meal at BoG at lunch as our "snack"...that might be an option?

We have 8:30 a.m. CP and I'm not a huge breakfast eater so even though it's buffet I don't see myself overeating. Then maybe we could do a 1:30 shared meal at BoG (that's 5 hours between with lots of walking so maybe it won't be too much food?) and then 7:30 dinner (that'll be 6 hours between the shared lunch and dinner). Hmmmm....I guess we'll just have to play it by ear but that might be the best way to play it??
