Oh man, HOW do I forget the dreaded days just before christmas every year? My kids are bouncing off the walls and I'm crawling up them! Someone save me!!!!!:scared1:

I'm right there with you and I'm trying to get in our last day of homeschooling for the week. Yesterday went pretty well, today has been another story. I keep thinking, I CAN DO IT, I CAN DO IT!!

Let me know if you find the solution to the crawling up the walls without chaining them to the floor;) .

I hope I'm not being insensitive but.....my kids are fine. They both had friends spend the night and are still happily playing away. They're very excited about Christmas but not driving me nuts or anything.

The shopping's done, the wrapping's done, we baked and decorated cut out cookies for 3 hours on Sunday.....basically all is well and we're ready for the holiday.

I keep reading all these posts about everybody being stressed and the kids making them nuts......none of that going on in my house(yet).

Tomorrow may be the test....we have no plans and they'll probably just sit around all day making us crazy about opening the gifts from us and talking about Santa, etc, etc......It's been a good week so far but I am thinking the tide may turn tomorrow.

That's the answer, have other kids over!!

Mine is just one and driving me insane. I helped the time go by by giving him Christmas chores so he can feel a part of all this. No expert wrapper but he gets it done! I had him write our names o the tags and orgainze his OLD toys to make room for the new ones that are coming.

The idle mind... well, you know the rest!

Now to find some other kids to spend time over here!

Oh, I'm ready for the holiday, THAT isn't what is stressing me out--still some packages to wrap, but that was planned for the boys and I to do today--but they are just so wound up waiting for christmas, they can hardly stand it. They have soooo much energy, they don't know what to do with themselves, so it is presenting as rough-housing, cat-chasing, and room desembling. Argh!!! I almost wish it would snow (did I just say that???) so I could send them out to shovel and burn off some off that energy!!! My 9 year old was up until 10pm last night, which I told him he could do, but he talked to me NON-STOP for 2 hours straight. I mean literally, non-stop. All while pacing around my bedroom and being told not to jump ("but I didn't jump, I FELL") on the bed. :bounce:

You must be doing something wrong (tongue firmly in cheek). Try dosing the kids liberally with cookies, fudge, and egg nog. Let's see if we can get them climbing the walls! :jester:

Zoloft.

LOL Unfortunately, Zoloft is slow-acting, it wouldn't kick in for a couple of days....however......there *is* some Nyquil in the med cabinet......:scratchin (I'm kidding!!!!)

I'm so glad its not just me! I just banished my boys to their own rooms for a little while for treating the couch like a wrestling mat! Its been crazy around here for several days. I just keep sending them outside to play! Fortunately we have been having wonderful weather and I can do that.

When my kids act up I send them outside even if it is only for 15 minutes when it is really cold. The cold seems to get to them and when they come in I fix them some hot chocolate and they are ready for a nap. Works like a charm:p

My grandmother always used to pray' "Lord give me strength to beear my blessings!"

I find that keeping them involved helps some, but I am always ready for bedtime!

they will be grown and on their own....

Well, it may not seem like that to you now, but trust me...once they are grown and out of your house you will suddenly stop and wonder just where all those childhood years went to.

You mentioned your 9-year old talking to you non-stop for 2 hours, reminds me so much of my daughter...she liked to talk to me too, and I always told myself to listen, because she wouldn't always be there. Last night she came down (she's married, lives just a quarter mile away) and we chatted for hours, it was wonderful!!! :) Reminded me of when she was younger....
