Has anyone come across any kind of calander that tracks large events
being held at WDW?

Our February trip, 2/5-2/12, was much busier than I had expected.
There were Superbowl crowds at the front of week which I expected, but
had large convention groups in middle of trip and masses of cheerleaders
at the end of our trip. As these events are planned out far in advance,
there should be a way to track...

Would make for better trip planning! :confused3

Interesting question......BUMP

There are several places you can find the names and dates of Disney-sanctioned events like the WDW Marathon or Star Wars Weekends. But I've never seen anything all-encompassing that would incorporate conventions, cheerleading competitions, dance competitions. spring training, Pop Warner, Brazilian tour groups and other activities throughout the state of Florida that might impact WDW attendance.

Reality check: Recreational travel levels have not only matched but EXCEEDED pre-9/11 volume. Disney theme parks are doing very well now and I think we all need to adjust our expectations accordingly.

Yep, I agree.
The 'cheerleading' stuff in early FEb might be the National POMs competititions that my daughter took part in 1996-1999. (and yep, her team was national champs 2 years running...awesome, but of course irrelevant, I am just a proud mommy)
With teams from all over the country and parents, friends, support groups etc...it does make the parks feel more crowded.
BUT, that is the name of the marketing game and so whereas before it was just cheerleading....medical conference....pop warners football....NOW it covers most every facet so as to bring in more people, more money.

The nature of the beast.

Luckily, more parks, fast passes, more restaurants, more DVC units....helps spread everyone out, but I don't think there will be many more 'quiet times' like days of yore.

In addition to checking the web site to find out the upcoming scheduleded large events...you could possibly call the resort conference centers to ask their schedule and such too......but here's something I try...and it is not at all logic based!!!!!! If I go to one park and it is packed, I leave and try another, figuring that maybe everyone chose MK that day and AK will be empty. It has worked so far!!!!
