Disney says they can do any cake ....and you don’t have to choose one from the list...but I’ve noticed they tend to end up looking like the ones on the list... :confused3 The picture we gave to our planner is not the cake we ended up with...but it was very pretty and i liked it when i saw it...It just wasn’t what i asked for, I did ask what happened post wedding and I was told this is what the baker envisioned :rotfl:

Do you still have the pic that you sent them? I would love to see it to see how different your cake turned out. That's great that you still liked your cake...I think it turned out amazing! I would be so disapointed to find out that the baker "envisioned" something that was not my vision! princess:

I love the snowflakes!! I'm having a December intimate wedding and this would be perfect. Is the the standard cake? Do I just ask for snowflake decorations? Is it extra?

Thanks :bride:

It was extra. Not sure how much. My parents paid. Around $100 I think. I showed my EM some pictures of what I wanted and they were given to the GF bakery and this is what they came up with.

Sorry don’t have the picture...gave it to Disney, which is funny because i know they had it ...actually got it out last seasons Bride magazine....the blue was totally different...and it was supposed to be a lace design on the cake...different type on every layer...and then on the third layer it was supposed to say and they lived happily ever after, hidden in the lace....well we ended up with the words on every layer and no lace... the cake i gave them was to intricate....but they did write the words swirled so i guess they tried

I've really got to get a better picture of my cake scanned in (but my scanner is old and pretty sad, LOL). This will have to do for now. I had a Christmas themed cake that had a layer with wreaths, a layer with snowflakes, and a layer with holly leaves. It also had our initials embossed on the front. We had the white chocolate castle cake topper, and the cake was luster dusted to make it shine a bit. We loved the way the bakery put icicles on the cake stand (that was a surprise) and put "snow" on the top layer under the castle.

Before becoming a nurse, I was a wedding cake decorator/designer for years, and I have to say, that is a poor excuse! In my line of business, if I had tried to pass off "my vision" of the cake as the cake that the client had paid for, the client would definitely get their money back! Only exception is if they brought in a cake pic for "inspiration" but wanted a less expensive version.
If that was the cake you paid for, that should be the cake you get!

I saw a Castle in the Sky cake on the foodnetwork Disney Wedding Special. Does anyone have any idea if they still do this? Also I was wondering if anyone had pictures. I LOVED the cake so much and I was thinking about doing it possibly but I'm not having my wedding at Disney so I need to pictures to show my cake lady. I've searched and havent found any.

oh that's nice. instead of what you "envisioned" the baker was like "screw this, we're doing it my way!" lol. at least you still liked the cake. i would turn into Bridezilla about my cake if that happened, i know it. and i'm pretty easy going with my wedding planning.

I beg to differ. That phrase has never been a part of the process when creating a wedding cake. Every effort to insure accuracy is performed prior to the cake's completion. There are no "envisioned" changes made without proof of guests consent from the EM.

Everyone loved my cake, but it was not what I had asked for. I gave a general direction that I wanted it to look like the 50th anniversary castle. In colors, etc, but that the bakery could use their creativity. (ie maybe a mad hatter cake in the colors, etc) Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate it, just wasn't what I envisioned. Maybe I gave too much leeway and probably should have managed that more, however, that was the one area I just let slide. My cake is in the professional photos in my journal. The link to the journal is in my signature.

My one suggestion regarding the cake would be to be SPECIFIC, more pictures than you ever thought possible so that there is no miscommunication. Understand that if you are asking for a "custom" cake you are going to pay a "custom" price. Sometimess as much as a mad-hatter, or more. It depends on how much work they have to do on it.

On the up side, our groom's cake was beautiful, and honestly almost the size of Texas!

The bakery does alot of cakes, and they are constantly moving. I would confirm and reconfirm with your EM that your cake will be the one you want.

i have to agree with Jonette - provide as many pics as possible and hopefully it wil turn out exactly as you want.

I definitely have to say that the disney cakes are gorgeous but you really cant beat one of the castles on the top!! i was amazed when i saw the picture

oh and Good Luck

We'll be having the main cake only from the Bridge to Happiness cake. Cinderella and Prince will be on the table, the white chocolate castle on the top. We will also be having small sugar flowers in our colors adorning it, as well as periwinkle luster dust on the turrets of the castle. I can't wait to post a picture! I'm so excited to see/taste it!!
As for the bridge, it appears to be made of chocolate and/or fondant. Being a wedding cake designer in my past life, it wouldn't be too hard, but you might want to consult a professional on this. The castles are available online.

The Bridge from the Bridge to Happiness cake is made of royal icing and pastillage, completely edible. The design is taken directly from an animation cell from Cinderella. It is a Disney exclusive, and made to order for each cake.

Hi!!! I posted this somewhere else, but I'll post it here. This is the cake I'm thinking about. It's not a Disney cake but I think it's such a unique cake!!! I found in on theknot.com.
