So we won't get to do a cake tasting and I'm waffling between cake flavours. What did everyone else have and did you love or hate it?

The first layer will be chocolate with either strawberry or raspberry mousse and I'm thinking the second (top) layer will be almond cake with white chocolate mousse or bavarian cream.

Help me decide! :lovestruc

DH picked the cake flavor- yellow and I picked the filling- choc mousse. Most choc moussse I have is so light and barely chocoaltey at all and Disny's was sooo yummy. It was like they used a dark chocolate or somethign so it actually tasted like chocolate. Very yummy :)

Unless you specify, most Escape wedding receptions only serve the bottom tier. The top tier is boxed so you can save it for your anniversary, or eat it later.

GOOD QUESTION! Mousse in a cake?? Does it taste like pudding? I can't image mousse in a cake, at least I've never eaten one with it. Do they do ice cream cakes or strawberry shortcake?

Not for Escape Cakes unless you upgraded.

I just received my contract this morning and read that as well... it's not a huge deal, just need to decide which flavour we want to eat more on that day. :)

How/Did anyone take their top layers through airport security? Or how did you get it home if you were flying (assuming you were keeping the top layer for later on)?

honey2741 - the mousse has a lighter flavour than a pudding, but it's still got to be somewhat stiff to hold the second layer up.

Different mousses are used for different applications. A dessert mousse has whipped egg white, which makes it very light and airy. A mousse used for cake fillings is more chocolate than anything else, and thus holds together better.

Ice Cream or strawberry shortcake? Not if you want it decorated like the Escape cakes are shown. And an ice cream cake outside (commanders terrace, sea breeze point, etc.), combined with the warm Florida climate? Hmmmmm....

We had chocolate cake with Bailey's Cream mousse. It was okay, but honestly not as good as it sounded.

For the wedding in Jan, we had lemon cake with tropical mousse and it was amazing. And we had marble with peanut butter cup, and that was great too!

Your Jan cake flavours sound soooooo good! I will not upgrade, I will not upgrade, I will not upgrade... if I say it enough, I might actually follow through with this. :o

I'm re-thinking the chocolate cake because we'll have kids there and everyone will be in white/linen/khaki... not really the best combination.

How big was the cake Heidi? We'll have four kids under the age of 7 and 4 adults... what did you do with all the left over cake?

We upgraded and had a third tier, but all these flavors are not upgrades.

For the bottom tier, we had chocolate cake with chocolate mousse - this was a huge hit

For the middle tier we had almond cake with raspberry jam and plain buttercream - it was very good, but not as good as the bottom tier

For the top (the part we ate all week in our room ) we had chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry jam - it was HEAVEN :cloud9: We loved it so much we had a replica made for our first anniversary this year - it was just as good as we'd remembered it! Whenever we talk about the wedding, the cake is the first thing DH mentions!

Just to clarify, as disprincessatheart has said, you do not have to pay for an upgrade to get any of these flavors - they are available at no extra cost. You can also select different combinations of cake and filling for each tier at no extra cost, whether you are having an Escape or a Wishes event - it doesn't matter.

The only restrictions are that sometimes certain fillings are not available at outdoor locations (spoilage issues), and I think Lynn paid $5 extra to get her chocolate chip cake. :thumbsup2

We had 2 tiers, one was yellow cake with ameretto mouse and one was carrot cake with cream cheese, they were both gorgeous, our cake served 50 and myself and 17 guests finished it off in about 3 days!

Really? I'm not limited to the basic flavours/fillings they have listed on their website?

Does anyone have the real list handy?

Sorry... I'm so impatient. I know this info will probably come in some sort of info packet, but I just can't wait! :lmao:

My contract gets faxed back tomorrow... how long do you think it will be before I get all the detailed info? So far, I've just been working off of their website info and info I've learned from the boards here. Love the Dis! :lovestruc

We had the raspberry mousse and it was fabulous! Not too sweet and a delicious texture. I was thrilled because I cannot eat seeds (raspberry seeds, strawberry seeds, etc.) and the mousse has no seeds, so I got all the yummy raspberry flavor and none of the evil side effects!

Here are some, I may be missing some thought (I made this list for DF since it is the part he is most excited about :rotfl:)

Cake Flavors
• Yellow,Chocolate, Marble, Carrot, Lemon, almond (and I think orange)

Filling Flavors
White Chocolate Mousse, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Mousse, Amaretto Mousse, German Chocolate, Buttercream, Cream Cheese Peanut Butter Cup, Bavarian Cream, Bailey’s Mousse and there are a ton with fruit or fruit flavours, but I cannot remember exactly what they are (I didnt show them to DF since I knew he wouldn't be interested)

My favorite was the almond cake with the tropical mousse. Heavenly! But my second favorite (after DF veto'ed the first favorite) was the marble with the Bailey's Cream. So we're doing two layers of that and the bottom layer will be chocolate with peanut butter cup mousse. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

MMMMMMMMM Lemon with cream cheese and Marble with Peanut Butter cup... can't wait to show these to dh.
