Cake Flavors

I am having a reception/dessert party during Illuminations and am ordering a cake from the Grand Floridian. This is not for a wedding and I will not be going ahead of time for a tasting of any king.

I am interested in the choices of cake flavors that are available and anyone who has actually tried them and what you thought of them. Which was your favorite and what combination of cake/filling did you have?

We had an orange cake with amaretto crunch filling for my brother's engagement. It ROCKED. Seriously it sounds strange but it was SO GOOD my brother ordered the same cake for his wedding!

I love the idea of the amaretto crunch filling. I wonder if the almond cake is good? I think that might make a good combination.

When I was looking for a cake I asked specifically about the orange and almond cakes. Everyone said they were amazing and I had a hard time deciding!!! The amaretto crunch filling WAS amazing and the bride I spoke to said she got it with almond and loved it!

Did anyone do the disney wedding cake Almond cake with amaretto crunch filling??? How was it???

We had almond with amaretto crunch as a flavor (it's one of the more popular ones I think, at least in the online community) and it was well praised! DH even liked it and he hated it at our menu tasting (he thought there was too much crunch at the tasting but it was more subtle at the wedding).

The top tier of my wedding cake was Almond Cake w/Amaretto Crunch filling and the bottom layer was Chocolate cake w/Peanut Butter Cup filling. I asked that each person be brought a small sliver of each;
8 people preferred the Almond w/Amaretto Crunch
2 people preferred the Chocolate w/Peanut Butter Cup

Both were AMAZING and I'm so glad I didn't have to choose one or the other!

I had the orange with amaretto crunch for my parent's anniversary cake! That amaretto crunch is AMAZING. (And I love it with the orange cake!)

We had chocolate cake with peanut butter cup mousse, and lemon cake with raspberry filling. Both were delicious!

Another vote for lemon cake with raspberry filling - it was so good!

We had one layer of chocolate with peanut butter cup mousse and one layer of marble (I love marble) with vanilla buttercream. DH is a huge chocolate peanut butter fan, and while it was good, even he preferred the marble with buttercream. Simple, but really tasty!

My new favorite Disney cake filling flavor is a combo of peanut butter frosting (not PB cup mousse, which tastes like cheesecake to me) and chocolate ganache. This tastes much more like a peanut butter cup than Disney's peanut butter cup mousse.
