Hi All,

Just wanting to get a feel about what you all like. I am not a big cake person. I really just want the cake to look pretty. I know it has to taste good too. Everytime it's my DD birthday we have yellow cake with strawberry mousse.

So maybe I'll take a chance and pick a different flavor and filling for our DFTW cake.

What flavor or flavors and fillings were your wedding cakes??? This could be a yummy discussion...:cloud9:

We are having the almond cake with amaretto mousse for our base layer and top layer (that we get to keep). DF and i agree, it was to die for. Our middle layer is chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse. It was also really good but that amaretto and almond combo, yummmmy.

the amaretto and almond was my favorite, but my DF didn't really like it, so we're also having red velvet and buttercream and marble with bavarian creme and fresh strawberries.

My bottom layer is lemon cake with cream cheese filling, and the top layer is chocolate with peanut butter cup filling....both are so good!

Our VR is at the Swan and so Disney will not be doing our cake. We are using Heather from 'It's Tasty Too' and we are having two small tiers (only 16 to feed!!) of 8' and 6' respectively. The bottom tier will be carrot cake with cream cheese filling. Everybody loves carrot cake - right? The top tier will be coconut cake with pineapple filling - like pina colada!! Yum!!!

Our wedding flavors are:

Tier 1: Red velvet w/ cream cheese

Tier 2: Almond cake w/ buttercream

Tier 3: Yellow cake w/ baileys mousse

The yellow cake w/ baileys is amazing and their buttercream taste just like the buttercream from Publix Supermarket, which I consider the best out there. :thumbsup2

Thanks ladies for the info...I have question if anyone can even answer...do escape brides get to have different flavors in the two tiers or is the included cake one flavor and one filing?

You can have any of the available flavors in each tier. I started as Escape and moved to Wishes and my cake stayed the same.

cool...thanks for the info...the question came to me as I as filling out my planning kit...but it didnt give the option to use/choose different flavors and filings.

This is thread is getting me so excited for my DD's ps next week. I think the almond w amaretto filling sounds so good. But then again they all do! :rotfl:

We had our planning session 3 weeks ago and the cakes were AMAZING. We had such a hard time choosing, but we ended up with chocolate cake w/ peanut butter cup filling, marble cake with bavarian creme filling, and almond cake with bailey's filling. But they were all amazing!

We had a hard time choose flavors because they were all soooo good. We ended up with the bottom tier and top tier (the one we take home!) being almond cake with baileys icing and the middle tier being marble cake with white chocolate icing.

We had red velvet with cream cheese frosting (AMAZING frosting!!!) on the first tier.

Marble cake with raspberry mousse filling for the 2nd tier. This combination was so delicious!

Remember that certain flavors are not standard. I know from our tasting that red velvet cake, cream cheese frosting and PB cup filling had to be special requested for our tasting.

Do oyou have to pay extra for the non standard flavors?

No, it's just that Wishes brides who go for cake tastings are usually only given the standard flavors (like chocolate, vanilla, and some fruity ones) so you have to put in a request if you want to taste something out of the ordinary like carrot cake or red velvet. :thumbsup2

So this is a strange question, but what exactly is almond flavor cake?

I was wondering that also, MsEsty!

We really wanted White cake but we were informed that Disney does not do white cake. :guilty:

So I guess our next best thing would be yellow. I was wondering what filling to go with the White Chocolate Mousse or the White Butter-cream? What does everyone think would go with yellow?

Can we do both? one for each layer. I wasn't sure since we are an escape couple....

I asked that same question and two post before yours it was answered...and apparently Escape Weddings are allowed to have more than one flavor...im happy about that:woohoo:

I seem to be in the minority - I didn't really love the Almond Cake with Amaretto filling. I found the almond cake kid of dry, sort of like white/yellow cake with a strong "almond extract" flavor.

Now don't get me wrong, some people LOVE this cake - my planner said it's one of her favorite combinations...I just found it too strongly flavored for my liking.

I ended up going with a flavor combo I'd really never heard of (Lemon with cream cheese)...it's really such an individual decision!

Ours are (biggest tier, to smallest tier)

Carrot Cake w/ Cream Cheese

Almond Cake w/ Amaretto mousse

Chocolate cake w/ Peanut Butter cup mousse
