Cake Flavors

Ooo I'm going to go buy a bottle of it tonight (or see if anyone has one I can sniff)

Thanks!

Also if you've ever had marzipan, the almond taste is like that. (:crazy2:) :rotfl:

We tried the almond cake with amaretto and it was really gross (just our opinion), we thought the two flavors compete with each other. We also tried the almond cake and baileys, it was good but too much flavors again, then we tried it with buttercream and it was amazing (perfect combo in our opinion)!!! Yellow cake and baileys mousse was our favorite and we are making it our biggest tier.

That's OK—I've heard there are actually people out there who don't like peanut butter and chocolate! :scared1: To each her own...:rotfl:

Do you guys get Marmite in the states?

It's a love/hate thing worse than marzipan - blergh!

Just starting the planning stages but are planning on a wedding on Castaway Cay...i will have to find out about that chocolate with peanut butter cup mousse as that sounds heavenly!

oh my so many choices I wish I could have an in person planning session...but here is a quick question...I am going to WDW tomorrow...yay for me...if I head over to the bakery is it possible to taste any of the cakes or these flavors...I would love this???

Once I find almond extract to sniff (okay that sounds strange), I might do almond cake and vanilla buttercream for our bottom.

Blasphemy! If you put a Reese's cup anywhere near my DF and blink, it will be gone - so I'm trying to get the peanut butter cup and vanilla for our top layer.

I've heard that the Boardwalk Bakery has some of the flavors but where you are getting married might depend on what bakery they use.

No, thank goodness! :rotfl: (Well, OK, at some specialty shops, but you really have to try very hard to be assaulted by it! :teeth: )

Unfortunately, the cake choices on the cruise line are limited to Chocolate, White, Yellow, and Marble and the standard filling flavors are Chocolate Mousse, White Chocolate Mousse, Strawberry Mousse, Bavarian Cream, and Buttercream—no peanut butter cup. :sad2: However, if you're going to WDW after the cruise, you can get a peanut butter-chocolate cake slice at BoardWalk Bakery that is better than the any of the pb-choc wedding cakes I've had! :thumbsup2

What MsEsty said!

In general, you'll only be able to get chocolate or vanilla "off the shelf" at BoardWalk Bakery. If you'll be at WDW more than 48 hours, you could call now and order a custom cake made by the bakery nearest your wedding site (GF?). You could even tell them that you're getting married there and want to try X flavor and see if they'll let you have it in a 6-inch cake to be delivered to a GF restaurant (or maaaaybe picked up at the counter-service place). The number for Private Dining at the GF is 407-824-2474. Good luck!

With you again Carrie - Reeces cups yummy!!!
I too hate Marmite!!! You either love it or hate it and they actually use this love it or hate it thing in their advertising campaigns!!
Isn't taste a funny thing? When you find something repulsive, (eg for me marzipan or marmite) you cannot understand why people like it and if you love something, you can't understand why everybody doesn't feel the same way!!! ;)

When I was at Disney last weekend we found these really mini cupcakes at the Candy Cauldron (DTD WS) that were assorted flavors. I told DH that this would be a nice thing for Escape brides to know about since they don't have PS or cake tastings. Now, the flavors aren't all the same or all available thru the bakey, but it gives escape couples that haven't tasted cakes like red velvet or carrot before the chance to & the chance to know what Disney's cakes taste like.
The flavors of these VERY mini cupcakes (best I remember) were:
*yellow cake with choc. buttercream
*strawberry cake (yep, strawberry) with vanilla buttercream
*red velvet with cream cheese frosting
*dark chocolate cake with choc. buttercream
*carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
*yellow cake with vanilla buttercream (that was colored red)

I will warn you that it was a little pricey- like $5-6 for these babycakes, but they were yummy! :goodvibes

Oh, and to answer the OP question, my wedding cake flavors were:

Bottom: Yellow cake with White Choc. Mousse and Fresh Raspberries
Middle: Red Velvet cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Top: Yellow cake with Raspberry Mousse

My DH and I went to the Boardwalk and tried the PB/chocolate cake when we were in WDW in May. It was soooo good. :cloud9:

And...for our wedding, our cake was yellow cake with chocolate shavings and chocolate mousse filling. It was amazing. We actually ended up eating the top layer while we were still there because we knew it'd be a crime to let it sit for a year and waste that yumminess. :rotfl:

Smart move! We sealed ours (like you're supposed to) and had family take it and freeze it for us. Then we took it back to the BW for our anniversary. It was a royal disaster! The cake was all dried out, the raspberry mousse had turned bad... ick. :sad2: I was so sad. :sad1: What a waste of a delicious cake.
