Hello Everyone! I had a question involving cakes and food and beverage minimums.

So if you get a cake, does it count in your food and beverage minimums for your reception location? Additionally, does it count as a certain price per person. For example, if the cake is $500 and you have 20 guests, does it count as $25 per person.

I am new to this so, if this is common knowledge, I am sorry!

Thanks!

I believe that is how it works (or at least, that's how my planner explained it working). I'm sure lurkyloo will verify though, in case my understanding it wrong. :thumbsup2

We're just considering it separate, because of the fact that we'd rather just focus on keeping meals + beverage at the minimum and we had already made the decision to go with the more expensive cake. I'd just stress out too much if I worried about keeping the minimums with the cake costs added in.

SnowQueenSam--

I believe the cake counts towards your overall for-the-day food and beverage minimums (though I can't speak for how it counts 'per person'). I know that it DOES NOT count towards your food and beverage minimums for the venue, depending on which venue you use.

For example, we are having our reception at the Living Seas Salon. Our food and beverage minimum FOR THE VENUE (not the day) is something like $2,500 (I can't remember right now and don't have the contract with me). I asked if the cake would count (in hopes that maybe I could ave a bit on the food), and it doesn't because the cake is coming from a different location (likely the Contemporary bakery). Additionally, I am going to get charged a cake transportation fee. :/

Now if I were having my wedding reception AT the Grand Floridian or the Contemporary...both hotels which I believe house the bakeries that make the wedding cakes, then it WOULD count towards the venue minimums.

I'd double check with your planner on how they count towards your per person minimum...but I'm like 98% positive it will count towards your day overall.
