Trip Report Day #3
10 day trip (Dec. 11th to Dec. 20th)
Tuesday Dec. 13th
Today we have scheduled the Magic Kingdom and Mickey Very Merry Christmas Party. The weather couldnt have been any better. Clear blue skies all day but then later that evening it was quite cold for our taste, upper to mid 30s. Katie and I wake up early so we can get to the MK before opening at 9am. Well we get to the boat dock at 8am and were informed that the boat that runs to the MK doesnt start till 8:30am but that they would take us to the Contemporary and then we could take the monorail to MK, and thats what we did. We even got to sit in the front of the monorail with the driver, which we had done already. But we were issued monorail copilot licenses! Pretty cool, didnt have to ask even. We arrived at the MK in plenty of time to line up for the rope drop. This was the first time we had witnessed the opening show when the characters arrive on the train above at the train station. Upon entering the park we headed to City Hall to sign up for the Virtual Magic Kingdom Insider tour. We were the first four people on the list. We were to report back to Main Street Cinema at 12:15pm for the tour. After we headed to Main Street Cinema to pick up our VMK in the park quest cards to fill out. Then we headed to Main Street Bakery for a big cinnamon roll and coffee. It was very tasty. After breakfast it was off to Frontierland for us two. We walked right on to Splash Mountain and rode it twice in a row with out getting off. We could have gone again but it was time for Big Thunder Mountain. We got to ride this one twice also but had to get off and go through the line. Again walked right on. After finishing BTMRR we walked right into Haunted Mansion with no waiting and then went to Pirates of the Caribbean. Two classic attractions that we love. We started to get hungry and decided to try the hot dogs and fries at Caseys. Two thumbs up! Now it was time to meet up with my parents at noon for the VMK tour. When we checked in we were very pleased to find out that we were the only four people signed up for the tour! So we basically had a private tour for my family! Our tour guide Dan, walked us through the MK where we rode Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and Big Thunder Mountain. In all occasions we had our own boat or ride vehicle with no wait. We just took the next one that came up to the loading area. Pretty cool! All through the tour he asked questions and we were awarded special cards for use in VMK.
The tour lasted about 2.5 hrs and was very cool. Too bad they have discontinued the tour. After tour all four of us went to Fantasyland. We had no wait or very little wait for Its a Small World, Peter pan, Philharmagic, Snow White, and Winnie the Pooh. We even caught the Sword in the Stone show. It was then time for us to get our Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) wristband. We picked them up at the rose garden. We were all hungry by this point so we headed to Cosmic Rays for burgers and chicken strips. We just couldnt miss Sonny Eclipse! After eating we tried to head to Space Mountain but they were already herding people with wristband into Frontierland. We then decided to see the Christmas version of the Country Bear Jamboree. It was really nice and if you are around Disney during the holiday it shouldnt be missed. After exiting the Christmas party was in full swing so we headed over to Tomorrowland to catch Mickeys Twas the Night before Christmas show which again was fantastic. While waiting in line to get into the theater we ran into Dan (the tour guide) and his girlfriend. When the show was over we stopped to get our complimentary xmas picture taken inside the Timekeeper, before securing us a great spot a the Noodle station to watch the fireworks at 9:15pm. The Christmas version of Wishes is wonderful. We then headed to the hub to watch the Christmas show at the castle forecourt. After viewing this entertaining show we then headed to Main Street to grab a last minute spot to watch the second and final Christmas parade of the night. What can I say a great ending to a great day! Boy, Im tired just writing this. By the time we got back to the WL and settled down it was 1am.
If you have any questions, let me know.
