Today we leave for WDW. Our flight leaves Lafayette, La at 8:55am and has one stop in Houston, Tx before reaching our final destination Orlando,FL. Our plane arrives in Orlando at 2pm. We made our way down to the Magical Express counter for our bus trip to the Wilderness Lodge. Our experience with Magical Express was great. No problems for us. From the time we landed to the resort it was about 1 ¼ hours to 1 ½ hours, which is pretty good time. We checked into the resort around 3:30pm. We had booked standard room with the Best Rate program, and requested upper floor facing the Magic Kingdom. That’s what we got! Actually we were upgraded to woodsview. Our room #6085 faced the Magic Kingdom and overlooked the lobby. The room was a little noisy because of the service entrance buzzing with delivery truck, but we weren’t in the room all that much and it wasn’t a problem for us. Upon entering the room we found several towel animals. We received many during our 10 day trip. Also forgot to mention, when we checked in we asked about being the Flag family during our stay. Unfortunately we just missed it by a few hours. If we would have been able to check in earlier we would have got it. This shocked me, especially since we were staying for 10 days. I thought we would have a great chance to get it.
After settling down, we walked around a bit to get oriented with the resort. We headed to Roaring Forks to get our refillable mugs and notice the huge fudge brownies. Had to try one and it was awesome. Then we took a boat to the Magic Kingdom to get me and Katie’s annual passes activated. After that we took a monorail to the Polyesian for dinner at ‘Ohanas ADR time 6:55pm. We were a little early so we walked around a bit. When our time arrived we checked in requesting a window view to possibly see the fireworks for that evening. A few minutes later we were seated at a window and could see the castle changing colors during our dinner. The food was excellent, especially the cheesy potatoes. The only thing that was not too good was the beef. It was a little fatty for our taste. Well our dinner ended before the fireworks started. Also we used the DDE card to get a discount on the meal. After the dinner, my parents returned to the Wilderness Lodge, me and my fiancé stayed at the Poly so we could watch the fireworks. We found a great spot on the beach and awaited the Electrical Water Pagent and Holiday Wishes. The EWP was great and so was the holiday wishes fireworks. It was really great to see the fireworks from outside the park. Especially the perimeter fireworks. After the show was over we headed back to the WL for some sleep. Something to note, when my parents returned from dinner, our bags were in the room waiting.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Day #2 of 10 to come soon.

Thanks for reporting! I am a Louisiana gal from a little further west: Merryville, La but I'm now living in Alabama. So we drive through your area a lot going back and forth between the two states.
Looking forward to the rest of your trip report.

A good start to your trip - your room location sounds great :)
