Part 6 -Saturday, July 31, 2004 Slow Morning, more arrivals and Tea
Needless to say, we decided to sleep in this morning. No wake up calls or alarm clocks. I think that I slept until 8 am very late for me. For some reason, I can not remember much about this morning. I know we had a late breakfast in the lounge, but I dont have a clue as to where we ate lunch (we probably didnt eat lunch). Suzanne took the boys for a swim, and I took a nap at some point in time. We hadnt been eager to plan a lot for this morning, because we were expecting the arrival of Suzannes Significant Other (Larry we are working on him to be her fiancé!) and his two teenage daughters (Valerie and Rachel). They arrived at the hotel about 2-2:30. They were at the Poly also, but not staying concierge. They were in the building next to ours (Toukelou). We went visit them, and we were very surprised at the size of their room it was much bigger than ours! Then I remembered that they were in one of the newer buildings, and the Hawaii bldg. is an older building. We visited for a while and then we had to head out for we had several PSs for this evening.
Our first priority seating for the evening was Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian. First I have to say going to Afternoon Tea had about as much appeal to me as a root canal without anesthesia. This was certainly not my idea of a fun time. The two 10 year old boys were about as excited about this as I was. The two teenage girls were a little interested in it. Larry thought it would be a good life experience. Suzanne on the other hand had made it clear that this was the ONE thing that she wanted to ABSOLUTELY do this trip, so the PS was made for 4:30 for all 7 of us. We headed over to the GF via monorail. We stopped by the gift shop, did some pin trading, browsed and took some pictures along the balcony at the hotel looking into the main lobby. We were a little early for our seating. When we were finally seated, we had to brow beat the boys about handling the real china (yes, we had visions of the Disney Home Store in our minds). I for some reason did not think they would give the kids real, nice china go figure. Anyway, our waitress was a young girl from Paris (as in France). She was very nice, explained what was available, we discussed my picky eaters wish for only peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly), and she told us a little about herself. (I really wish that I could remember her name). The boys and Rachel ordered Mrs. Potts Tea, which is actually a teapot of chocolate milk, 3 tea sandwiches (tuna, ham, and PB& J or in Chris case PB only), and a choice of two individual mini desserts. The boys did an excellent job handling the teapots (we just knew that one would end up broken). The adults ordered hot tea and Valerie ordered Iced Raspberry tea. We also had tea sandwiches, some scones and butter, a mini onion tart, and our choice of dessert. I have to admit, this ended up being one of our favorite things that we did this trip. Not just for me, but for all of us we thoroughly enjoyed this experience and will happily do it again. It was also one of the most filling meals that we had. When we rolled out of here (Literally some of us had to at least waddle), we took a bus over to MGM.
