Okay, I'm officially going back "home" to Disneyland in April (or possibly March). I've always wanted to eat at the Blue Bayou, mainly for the ambiance, but partially to try a Monte Cristo. I've noticed, however, that since the rehab, the general thoughts have been leaning towards staying away because of the prices and the quality.

So, I noticed, after poking around at AllEars, that the Cafe Orleans has a Monte Cristo. Anyone have any thoughts, experiences, feelings about this restaurant? Do you have to make ressies?

Much thanks in advance for any and all advice! :cool2:

hey Miss Bubbles,

here's a link with some pics of my lunch at Cafe Orleans....we went there at the end of Nov...btw...Im getting ready to go back next month and I booked PS for CO again but I started looking at some menus for there and BB and noticed that in reality, for what Im going to get (Monte Cristo always!), its only about $4 difference to eat at BB than CO...kids meals are same and same price so I decided to go in and change it to BB...havent been there for awhile and I really want to get the creme brulee trio...hope this helps

Cafe Orleans is our new favorite restaurant inside DL. We have tried the Monte Cristo, house salad, onion soup, seafood sandwich and dessert - it is all fabulous. I always make ressies, cause that is the kind of person I am, but it is up to you. If it is a nice day out, sit outside, the scenery is enjoyable and the view lovely.

Have fun and good luck:dance3:

DH had the Monte Cristo at CO when we where there last October and it was faboo! I had the chicken gumbo crepe and it was great as well. I would highly recommend CO. Lulubelle is right that the ambiance was lovely, the outside terrace beautiful to sit in and the people-watching is the best!

Don't forget the Mickey beignets!

There's pics in the food reviews sticky at the top of the board. I wasn't too crazy about the 3 chees Monte Cristo, but the regular one was good.

We were there on a Saturday and were able to make lunch ressies that same morning for the first seating, I think 11:30. But it is becomming more and more popular so I don't know how long same day ressies will be available.

I spent some time yesterday literally drooling over all the photos at the top of the threads! My must haves are the fritters at the little stand in New Orleans (have been getting these since I was a kid in the 70's), a Dole Whip and to try a Monte Cristo. It will be my luck that since I've been wanting one for so long now that I won't like it, but at least I can say that I've tried it.

Of course, I also have to have popcorn, a hot dog, a churro.......:faint:

We had lunch at the BB last August, the food was very good, service was on the spot and we had the "infamous" waterside seating. Was extremely busy, many people being turned away. It was a very nice break from the heat and the crowds.

We had a very similar experience. We had evening reservations and an amazing experience at the BB and we'll definately be going back next time we go.

On that note, the evening menu at BB doesn't serve monte cristo but we had it a cafe orleans. My DH had the three cheese and hated it, he ate two bites and then helped me eat my regular monte cristo. Mine was pretty good I guess, I had never had one before to compare though.

Since it is only $4 more to have a Monte Cristo at the Blue Bayou, I'd go there over Cafe Orleans. Make sure you go when they have the lunch menu. I've had the Monte Cristo at both the BB and CO and they are pretty much the same. The advantage at the BB is that you get fresh bread brought to your table, your choice of soup or salad, and two sides along with the Monte Cristo. You also get the fun atmosphere. At CO I only got a couple grapes & strawberries with my Monte Cristo.

Gosh, I was looking forward to CO as the cheese one sounded good to me since I don't care for ham, a regular one it out!! Sad to see it is not very good, perhaps I need to rethink! Thanks!

That's good to know about BB. Then again, there is the $5.00 split plate to consider as well. Decisions decisions.......

I am dying to try the cheese monte christo, I hate ham! Am I right you can only get that one at cafe orleans right? Sorry I love cheese , so I figure I will love the sandwich !

Thanks, maybe I will! I just hate to spend that kind of money and then what if I don't want to eat it. I mean, I guess it can't be that bad, it is all cheese after all. And I've yet to turn down a meal full of cheese!!!

But I guess you have to try something new sometime. I do NOT like ham at all so the regular Monte is out of the question. I guess I got scared because I haven't heard anyone at all come back and rave about how good it is!! You think atleast one person would like it :rotfl:
