Cafe Mickey ?

We had a 8pm reservation and arrived 7.40pm after watching Dreams! Of Christmas, and we seated by 7.50pm in the conservatory.

The resturant was busy, and both the main part and the conservatory has some empty tables.

Our waiter for the evening was Ibrahim

I ordered a carafe of water and Duffy ordered himself a large Kronenbourg 1644 beer. Sharon ordered a bottle of San Pellegrino mineral water.

We ordered the Cappuccino Tomato soup and
Fantasia Mushrooms to start, followed by a Royal Pizza (cheese, ham and olives) to share.

For desert I had the Dolce Vita ice cream and DW had the Cafe Gourmand, which was at trio of mini deserts which included a fruit salad, a pane cotta, and a biscotti served with a cup of coffee.

We had our Shellie May and Duffy bears with us which lead to some fun character interaction and we met the following..

First up was Pluto then Minnie Mouse - who was brought around to our table by a character handler after he spotted DW's ShellieMay when he was in the main part of the resturant helping her deliver a birthday cake to another table.

She stayed with us for a few photos and was then whisked away to deliver another cake else where. The CM stayed with us for a little chat about ShellieMay and told us Minnie would be with Duffy tomorrow in the park.

Goofy then came along and stole Sharon's Christmas hat....

Minnie Mouse then came around again, but did not stop at our table, just gave us a wave as she went passed, which as only fare considering the amount of time she spent with us earlier.

Then Mickey Mouse came around, followed by Tigger and Minnie Mouse again.

All the characters I saw in the main part of the resturant visited the conservatory and spent an equal amount of time visiting each table.

The food was nice, the pizza arrived warm, not red hot and not stone cold and they were fine about us sharing one between us.

I don't think upstairs was being used and the pouring rain meant no one was queuing outside and they were only accepting those with reservations.

We left 9.30pm and the bill came to 60 euros.

Well that sounds like a good meal with plenty if characters....so glad to hear something positive about Cafe Mickey! Love visiting it and would have hated to give it a miss!

We normally go to Inventions or Auberge De Cendrillon but I found the character interaction the same . Yes the menu is limited, aimed at families on a budget and local day trippers. Not a great selection but I'm sure you would find something that would take your fancy.

I can imagine the experience could be a whole lot different on a veery busy weekend or during the school holidays.

We have not been here since around 2005, and apart from the change to the menu nothing and changed. I would still recommend visiting at lunch time as it looked a lot quieter in the afternoon.

Thanks for review. Not many characters and mostly the same you get to meet in hotels or park. I'd like more variety. But I'm glad you had a good time:thumbsup2

Exactly the same characters we met in Inventions Friday night. For the price of Inventions you should see a lot more and ore varied characters.

Hi there,

I'm new to these forums and have found this discussion interesting. We've been to CM for the the first time in Sept 2012 and then recently in on 20th Dec 13.

Having no previous experiences at CM to compare with (singing?? dancing?? buffet dessert?! TEN characters?!?!?!), we were pleasantly surprised.

First visit we met Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Eeore, and Tigger. All ideal characters at DD was only 2 1/2, so great types for her to meet. She had loads of time with all the characters, and Eeore even came back for a second cuddle. We had the set meals - really enjoyed it, except for the service for our mains - they pretty much forgot to bring them to us (and asked if we were ready for dessert!!) but rectified it quite quickly. We sat upstairs, in the corner with a lovely view of the balloon. We were the first ones in. But overall, except for the service glitch, loved it.

So we weren't going to go this trip - had contemplated it for DD's birthday on the Tuesday of that week but decided to splash out on Auberge (not as many characters there as I would have hoped, but that's a different story....). As the week went on, we decided to make a last minute change to our planned restaurants and decided to book for CM on our last night (Friday). Booked for 6.15 and arrived just before. Again, we were the first people in the upstairs and got the same table!! What were the chances?!?! We met Mickey, Minnie, Tigger and Pluto (same as before!), but this time with Goofy. DD (now 4!) had met Mickey and Minnie earlier in the week, but was completely in love with Minnie so that was great. Hadn't seen Pluto or Tigger (so bouncing followed!!), and Goofy was just right for her age - he tickled her, pretended to mess about with the cash till/computer (which DD found hysterical and proceeded to tell on him to Minnie, Pluto and our waiter!!). Pluto and Minnie both came to us twice. Our waiter was lovely (sorry, don't remember his name) and was great with DD. We went for the set menu's again, and again enjoyed the food but I personally found the Cappuccino soup a bit cool. Service was great BUT I put it down to luck as we were the first table to arrive in that section. I did notice that when we were having our mains that some other tables hadn't yet had their starters, but they seemed to catch up.

We'll probably go back again when we go with my in-laws (their first Disney trip) in March, mainly because we know the food is good for DH's picky tastes, and as we could always do a slightly more budgetted option (shared pizzas) if we wanted to.

Hope that helps some people.....

C x

If we do Inventions, it's going to be Sunday brunch. Did it last year and had best character interaction ever.
