Hi all, im a newbie on this forum, found it by accident yesterday but ive already got loads of info from your all.

I'm visiting DLP on 14th May until 17th May and we are staying at the My Travel Explorer Hotel.

My question is that we are travelling with 4 young children and want to book a character dinner at Cafe Mickey, the prices quoted on DLRP website is that it is £21 per adult and £10 per child, i am guessing that this price is just for the experience of meeting the characters and food and drink is additional, is this right? also what is the approx cost of a meal at cafe mickey?

Also we only have 2 full days in the parks due to our flight times, do you think we have enough time to do it all??? to be honest the kids are really only interested in the parades and shows so we wont really be going on any of the big rides, the kids ages are 8, 7yr old twins and a 4 yr old.

Thanks for your advise

Claire

Hi Claire, welcome to the DIS!

If you look at the site here and click on Cafe Mickey then click on MENU it lists various items and prices. If you are able to manage a three course meal then the set menus work out very good value at 34 euros for adults and 15 euros for children which does roughly work out at what you have seen on the DLRP site. Meeting the characters is included in the price of your meal, the only thing you will pay extra for is drinks.

As you're going midweek you shouldn't find it too hectic, my advice is to get to the parks for opening and use fastpass when possible, especially for Buzz which I am sure you will all love.

Any more questions please ask away! :goodvibes

Hi Claire!
Welcome to DIS! :)

When you have a meal at Cafe MIckey you pay for the food and drink you have and the character interaction happens around you. You don't pay a seperate amount for it.
Its def worth making a reservation for the time/day you want though or you might not get in if you just turn up. For 2 adults and 2 children (8) our total bill was 107 Euros. It was definatly worth the money!

Because you'll be there mid week it shouldn't be too busy so you'll fit a fair bit in although not everything.

Our kids found many, many rides they enjoyed but that was just part of our trip alongside the shows and esp the parade and the characters. Meals are a lovely relaxed way to get great character interaction as is character meet and greets in Studios as the queue's tend to be shorter.

Have a great trip and if you have any more Q's just ask :)

We went in February and just walked up and got a table. I didn't know it was character meal and when we got in we realised how lucky we were as ours was the only table available (at 6pm).

My kids are classed as adults - we had 4 main courses and it came to 98 Euro.

I am a "big" eater, I usually eat a lot, but portions at Cafe Mickey are rather huge...
Next time I go, I'll just order a main course, and if I'm nit stuffed with just that, also dessert.
Last time, we wanted to try the 3-course menu, but after the entree and halfway through the main course, I was so full, we just paid a la carte and didn't order dessert.

This just to say that if you're no big eaters, no need to really spend money on the whole menu!

Hi Claire and welcome to Disboards :cutie:
Cafe Mickey is fabulous we loved it and I'm sure you and the family will too. :thumbsup2 The character interaction alone makes it worth the money, make sure you've got your camera and that the kids have their autograph books. :thumbsup2

At ages 8, 7 and 4 I think you will find there are more rides there than you imagine that the children are going to like. My 8 year old has done every ride in the park apart from Space Mountain and Indianna Jones which he's too short for, last visit Buzz Lightyear was the big hit, but he loves Pirates OTC, Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor and he's always the one to suggest we ride Its a Small World for mum of course.:)

Hi!
I would book a table for between 6 and 6.30. If you wait til later then even with a reservation there could well be a queue waiting for a table to clear and that would take away from your park time.

Thank you all so much for all your advise...we are def going to make a reservation...we are thinking of making it for 7.30pm on Mon 14th May (our first night)....our flight gets in at 3.40 and we weren't sure how long we should leave to get our luggage (1 case) and get from the airport to the hotel (we are getting a taxi direct)...do you think we have left enough time??

I've only ever travelled to DLRP by Eurostar so not sure how long it takes to get from airport but I would have thought that you are giving yourself plenty of time. Can anyone else help? :)
