This table service restaurant is located in the Backlot. Although it does not offer a wide selection, so many would treat this as counter service. Speciality of hot dogs and salad in a 50’s American Diner caravan.

Okay as previously announced we are hoping the boards can help :goodvibes If you have photographs of the restaurant and the food. If you have eaten here and can write a review. Even a couple of lines of what you liked, things to watch out for.. would be appreciated if you posted below :)

Some years ago Cafe des Cascadeurs used to be a real restaurant: you sat down, had a menù, there was a waitress who took your order and brought the food at your table, you ate, paid the bill and left. And the chili&cheese hot dog (with crisps) was to die for.
Now the place became a fast food: you choose the food from pictures on the wall, pay in advance, take your food and sit down. And no more chili, no more cheese (and no more crisps): just hot dog and bread (with ketchup and mayonnaise, if you want).
On our last trip, when we found it, I and my wife were so happy because we thought it didn’t exist anymore (there is the picture on the map but it is not in the list of the restaurants), but we letf very disappointed!
What a pity, it was a small gem, now forget it (and probably all others restaurants in the Studios).

During my tour of WDS, I discovered the following: This is THE oldest Disney theme park restaurant!!!
How this is possible??

Apparantly, during the 40s, this used to be a real diner in Germany. When WDS was built, they moved it there. Since Disneyland was built in 1955, and all restaurants at Disney theme parks are newly built and thus from 55 or later on, this is THE oldest Disney-restaurant!

Sandra - I was on the tour when the guide told us that too :thumbsup2

Was that the 2pm one ?

I'd love to try this but it never seems to be open when I go.

I was on the 11 am on, a French tour, by Imagineer Laurent

Wow, that's amazing! :yay:

According to the park guide this is now a table service restaurant as opposed to counter service.

Ive never looked at the menu before so I dont know how this compares to what is was before

We ate at Café des Cascadeurs at 1pm on Wednesday 17th June. We went straight in after the Motor Stunt Show Spectacular and could either eat at the bar or a table outside. The booths are strictly reserved for families. We chose to eat outside. The menu was quite limited with the choice if about 4 things. We both chose the Giant hotdog which came with fries and coleslaw. I had my hotdog without cheese sauce which seems to automatically come on the hotdogs nowadays. We have eaten at this restaurant before when it was more counter service when it still used to serve hot dogs etc but more like Hyperon Café than Annettes Diner. We had to wait quite a while for our order to be taken as the waiter seemed more interested in preparing further tables for non existent guests than taking our order. After people from the next table went over to get his attention he finally came and took our order. When the food came it was lovely the same as the hotdogs elsewhere in the park. From memory I think the meal was about 10.50 Euro which did not included a drink, this is quite expensive when you compare it to Caseys in main street but it was nice to sit outside at a table for a while. Instead of waiting for our bill we went through to the till and showed our shareholders card which can now be used here. I noticed that the high chairs all come wrapped up with cling film and underneath is a frizzby for the child to take home which I thought was nice. This restaurant sits very few people and obviously less in winter when the outside terrace is not in use. When we left I sat on the motorbike which is constantly running outside to have my photo taken.

We went here at lunchtime. It's our 2nd time of going this year and I actually managed to take a couple of pics that aren't too bad so I'm going to add them :lmao:

I'm not a huge burger person (and I'm not a fan of Annettes, tried it 3 times and it struck out) but OH likes them ..well it's red meat...so as he was paying we went here ;)

And I was very suprised and pleasantly at that.

The chips were good, better than the others we have had in the parks, the burgers remained moist even though they are well done, there was tons of bacon and the sauce was not under/over powering. The bread bun was even nice and didn't break up like those ones in Annettes do.
The coleslaw wasn't vinaigry or over creamy and it went well with the rest. The roquette salad is an after thought but I ate it (as well as OH's :rolleyes1 he got half the bread bun in exchange)

So we had 2 Bigger Double Bacon Burgers and will not be eating tonight :thumbsup2

Next time I'll try a Mushroom one

ps-We ate outside on the terrace but we also could have sat at the counter on stools or in the booths, but it was hot and a bit of air was welcoming. The place was clean and we were looked after well. The CM's were very friendly and took and brought the order quickly but didn't hassle us after eating to leave the table or to order anything else

pps-Will add the photo of the other side of the menu in the week, it's salad and the drinks/ice cream :)
