We're looking at this excursion for our Panama Canal cruise in August 2016, but I have a question about what is included in the base price and what "optional" items are for a charge. In the description, it says, ".....Participate in optional workshops. Watch and learn how tortillas are handmade and how tequila is distilled—a tasting is included! Experienced and knowledgeable guides are at the helm, providing entertaining narration every step of the way." and then later says, "Guests are encouraged to bring cash or credit cards to purchase optional extras."

Anybody know how much these options cost? What do you do if you opt not to participate in the options that cost $$?

We just did this excursion in May and had a great time. Everything is included except pictures. I think they were around $80 and included a memory stick. The pictures are excellent. They have a really great Mexican lunch and they make the tortillas while at the buffet. Later a guide will show you how the corn tortillas are made with the grinder. Anyone could take a turn. The tequila was interesting to learn how it's made and they showed us the plant it is made from. They let the adults that wanted to, taste it. The whole experience was so awesome. We loved riding the camels and just found it so beautiful that it felt like a dream.

Thanks! How was the Ferry ride? Anyone have issues with motion sickness? Did you feel like you spent too much time "traveling" (i.e. 1-1/2 hrs total on the Ferry and 2 to 2-1/2 hours on the bus)? And not enough time "doing? My Mom is a bit older and gets nervous when there's too much time between access to restrooms. Did you find restrooms were readily available? i.e. was there opportunity to visit the restroom after the ferry/before the bus, etc?

The only boat you are on is the tender boat from the ship to shore. It was pretty quick, 15 minutes tops. You are waiting for your guide on the dock area for a little while. There are many opportunities to use a restroom. Next you take a nice van through town to the ranch. From there you get on there off road open air vehicles to get to the camels. It sounds like a lot of driving but it didn't really feel like it. There was several older adults with us. After the camel rides you have an opportunity to go on a nature hike with a guide which I would highly recommend but for those that didn't want to, they could wait in the truck.

Oh my goodness....I got totally confused and was thinking about the details of an excursion we are looking at in Cozumel (Tulum ruins) that has extensive traveling. So sorry. Thank you for your help!

If you're worried about the Cozumel ferry, there's a restroom on the ferry. Some people do get motion sickness on the ferry. I take bonine and bring the granola cereal boxes from the ship along with cold water and I'm fine. There was a few small children around me getting sick.
