Cabo excursion question?

If you can, book Cartegena in advance. We used Dora the Explorer (so very highly recommended on DIS as well as trip advisor). She did not charge us in advance, and if the ship missed the port, there were no penalties. She is the best tour I have been on (and I work in the travel industry).

I did look into Dora actually, but wasn't sure if my 6 and 8 yr old would enjoy the tour?
I'm torn on what to do in Cartegena!

What made her tour better over others?

Thanks!

The water was so choppy that on the 2015 WBPC cruise, the waves were crashing over the tender dock at the boat, and they would have you wait til the boat was coming down and then jump! They were holding your hands, but still, eeeeeks! They even positioned the boat in the best angle to avoid the chop. The water was crashing up over the bottom 3-5 steps too. I was thankful to get from the boat back to the ship!

Yikes! That's scary for sure! I can see my 5 yr old now being scared out of his wits having to do that (hopefully we won't lol)

Did they get to Port on time by chance? Most cruises I've been on we've always arrived early to Port which was nice cause it gave us more time.

We are on this cruise. We have two little ones (3 and 1), so we are just doing a excursion through DCL, to Lands End.

Thone photos of the boat sinking are kinda scary especially since we have our small kids with us.

My friend who I'm also travelling with has a 3 year old, so good to know she will have another friend to play with at the Kids Club (if you send your 3 yr old)
I thought about that tour you're doing, but it's sold out now.

My DD was 4 when we went with her. There was also a family with 3 young kids, under the age of 10 with us. The kids had a great time, although it was hot walking around. She made sure the kids were up front with her during the tour so they could learn and hear her. She bought everyone fresh fruit from a stand and the kids loved it.

I would say Dora stood out because she made sure we got to each of the touristy landmarks ahead of the other tours. We had La Poppa all to ourselves for a good 10-15 minutes. Also, we were able to see more on her tour in 4 hours than on Disney because the group was small and we could all get on and off the bus more efficiently.

Yes, we got to the port in the dark. I was able to get some great pictures of the sun rising over Lands End. They gave us a time when they thought the non-tour people would be able to get off the ship, but we were able to get off as soon as the ship was cleared. There were also TONS of tenders available. No waiting on either end. There was another ship in port that day. Maybe a RCL and the line for those people was SOOOO long, in the heat. We walked right through, were given a cold drink and a towel and off we went. Seriously, I felt like royalty after seeing all the people in the other line (they were tendering in life boats) and they had no water out for them during their wait.

I like how Disney does that with the cool drinks and towels....they had hot cocoa for us in the gangway lobby on the EBTA when we came back from from a chilly port.

But, I didn't trust the local small boat taxis. They seemed very unsafe to me

Is there a difference between "small boat taxis" and a boat that does excursions (with drop-off/pick up) out to Lover's Beach.

If so, how do you know?

I honestly don't know. We were just on the beach walking and watching various water taxis that would pick up right on the beach....don't know if they do excursions or or serve as taxis from point A to B. It was one of those that sank. The boat we took was for our excursion was at a dock which we met at and was much larger.

Our arrival time is 11am, so hoping we get there much sooner. I would love to see the sun come up!
I hope we have the same luck as you with the tendering:)
I love the cold towels and water they provide. Its a nice added touch!

What excursion did u take?

Do you know if there were excursion boats (at the dock) that would take people to Lover's Beach?

By dock I meant a dock, not the dock that the Wonder docks at. This dock was in town near some restaurants. Sorry Schmoo, I don't know the answer. We had booked our excursion through our hotel.

I know that, Cabo is a tender port. The tender dock is different than the dock where the independent boat tours go from.

OK, thanks anyway. We'll just play it by ear when we're there.

ha, when I replied I didn't even realize Cabo was a tender port!!! We did this a few years ago and I know the dock was downtown somewhere behind a restaurant. I get the feeling it was not a tender dock though...it seemed more out of the way for a tender dock but can't be sure. We did an evening sunset wine cruise that went out to the Arch and around a bit.

Yes...the water taxis will drop you off there...and set a time to come back and pick you up...you hope and pray they come back. I have not heard any horror stories...yet.

I thought about that tour you're doing, but it's sold out now.

I wasn't sure how many kids there would be. I've read this cruise has significantly less children onboard. I'm not sure how much we will be letting my 3 year old son go to the club. I guess it depends if he likes it or not.

We were unsure about the Lands End coastal cruise excursion, but there really wasn't much we could do with the little ones. My wife commented that we are going to either the beach or to a beach club on all of our excursions. He live in Hawaii, so going to the beach isn't that big of a deal because we can do it almost anytime, but looking through the excursions, there wasn't much else we could do. But oh well, we are going more for the time on board, the ports were just extra to us...

Yes, their is a lot less kids on this type of cruise, but still enough that I know my kids willl have a blast with:)
My 6 yr old loves the kids club, but my 8 yr old would prefer to play basketball for hours!! They also both love Bingo on the ship lol

I looked at the excursion you're taking, but it is sold out now. I'm still torn on what to do this day.

Hawaii is one place I have on my bucket list to visit! I will get there one day!

This will be cruise #11 for my family in exactly 1 1/2 years (I got addicted after cruise #1) and my friend that I cruise with often is also on cruise #11, and she has never gotten off the ship at a single port other then Castaway Cay..lol..She is like you, loves to stay on the ship and enjoy what it has to offer. I usually get off, but have stayed on at a few ports.
