I've had nothing but problems with my cable Internet since the middle of August.

I've tried new modems, I've had 3 cable guys out putting in new lines and splitters, one level 1 tech guy has been out and I have comcast on speed dial

My modem keeps shutting down, recycling and then the top two lights flash for hours no matter what I do.

They can't figure out the problem because every time they come out, it's working!!!

It was out for a few hours this morning and the level 1 tech guy is coming again today. Of course, it just started working again

I just want it when my kids need it really and it's almost never on when that happens.

Here's hoping.

Mind if I ask where are you from?

Eastern Pennsylvania.

I'm thinking that Comcast is just getting too big.

I mean this is nuts.

Maybe it has something to do with Sun Spots. The weather channel has a running line on Weather on the 8's, and it says cable could go in and out between the hours of 11-4. until Oct. 16 So maybe it affects the cable modum too.

It's Comcast. I'm in Lancaster County and we have had on and off problems with our cable modem also. This last month it has been fine, but I'm sure I just jinxed that, lol.

We have charter cable internet in TN , and I can feel your pain, same trouble here!! Isn't it funny there is never a problem when the service man comes to visit LOL

We've also had problems with our cable modem recently. We just had it hooked up in the middle of August and have already had 3 people out to look at it. It sounds like the same problem you're having- the top two lights are on and the third blinks. I can't seem to get an answer from Comcast about why it's happening. I hope I don't jinx myself, but it's actually been working no problem for about the last week or so.

Oooo and we live in the pretty close too.

That's way too much of a coincidence!

How's work Kjo?

Check out www.dslreports.com for information about broadband connection problems (which includes DSL and cable modems). They have a wealth of information and you might be able to spot some localized problems that other people may be having with Comcast. Good luck.

Thanks Towncrier! I didn't know a site like that existed.

(I'm glad I ranted, LOL) :)

I have Comcast and haven't had any problems... At lesat, I haven't noticed any problems and I'm online like 24/7...hmm...

Must be regional. We have comcast in Indy and have great service!

I have Comcast and haven't had any problems...

That's good!

I don't know if it has to do with old wiring in the neighborhood, or still something with a cable in my house. Because my modem was working when the tech guy came, he still can't find the problem, so now a cable guy is going to come and replace the last cable that hasn't been done  For another $30.00.

I know that people a few towns over who have underground cable, don't seem to have hardly any problems.

I'm just thankful it's on as much as it is now. Back in August and September, adding up the hours, I had Internet a total of about 15 days. It was very frustrating.

I had lots of problems with my cable modem for the first few months then they decided that I had too many televisions??? So they created a special connection just for the cable modem and I haven't had any trouble since.

CRB...sorry just noticed this post but I hope this little bit of info will help you.....
1) i used to work for Comcast...so the good news is you can get reimbursed for all the time you have been having trouble...call cust serv and request it...the rep may not give it to you but just ask to speak to a supervisor...they have to give you credit!!
2) call the hsi tech support...request to speak to a supervisor again...explain the problem and let them know this has been an ongoing problem. They will get it fixed immediatley! Make sure you keep a cool tone..we never dealt w/ irrate customers to well. But by keeping on them you can get it resolved. If you have any more ?'s I'd be more than happy to answer them. I know all their secrets!! HEHEHE!!

we were having problems with our cable modem too. DS and I would call and call and they would talk us through something and tell us it was working, but it really wasn't. Finally DH called and 2 trucks were out here in 10 mins (grrrrr) The problem was a connection at the pole. It would only happen when the wind would blow and loosen it so thats why it would work sometimes but not all the time. Hope you get it fixed.....

That's interesting Kath as we've been having problem with our internet for several weeks now. It almost completely shuts down around 8:00 every night! We have 4 TVs on cable but I didn't think there was any connection.......there are two separate wires that come in from the pole outside, one for cable TV, the other for the Net.

We live in NO VA and haven't had that many problems with the cable modem. Its more like COX cable- they end up working in the area and POOF our cable is out again.

Also, my two top lights are always on and the third blinks. Thats not normal?????

We have had some problems with our cable internet service too. First, we all probably have different modems...we had a motorola from Comcast, but it was broken...the light was not blinking and it was supposed to...it was the cable activity light. We now have an RCA modem from Comcast which has two blinking lights...its been working fine, although sometimes the connection is really slow. I was told that if you unplug the power supply from the back of the modem, wait about 10 seconds, plug it back in, wait for the lights to all come back on to the way they were, and the connection is usually better. I did find that if you keep on Comcast, they will keep trying to resolve the issue...we had five different tech guys to our house in one weeks time. It was just a pain having to call tech support and explain the problem over and over again in order to have support come out. Good luck!
