Going on a DC for the 1st time, not sure what excursions to sign up for, would we be better just to go to cable beach if we wanted to get off the ship for part of the day, how easy is it to get to, we have a 14 and 11 yr old, can they just snorkel there versus buying an excursion, thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You can get to Cable Beach by taxi (there are drivers waiting as soon as you walk off the pier) or bus. The bus stop is next to Haagen Daz on Bay Street, and the fare is $1 a person. It's the cheapest way to go but takes a little more effort. I love Cable Beach--it's a great "do it yourself" excursion.
