We are planning on a cabin for our December trip. Have asked for one with disability access. Does anyone know if the bedroom is bigger than a 'regular' access cabin? Is the perimeter around the queen bed bigger?

Did you actually "book" an accessible cabin or just "ask" for one? Accessible cabins are a bookable category, and if you didn't book one you may not receive what you need. There are different categories of "accessible" as well, so be sure to book what best suits your needs.
  • A "hearing accessible" cabin won't do you much good if you need to get around in a wheelchair or need assistance in the bath.
  • A "Florida Special accessible" cabin will have grab bars in the bathroom, but I don't believe the rest of the cabin is necessarily wheelchair friendly.
  • A "wheelchair accessible with roll-in shower" cabin is, I believe, a wider footprint overall. That allows for additional space in the bedroom between the queen and bunks, and also includes ability to roll-up to the kitchen counter at the cooktop and sink. Also a roll-in shower instead of a tub. The picnic table outside should have roll-up access as well, plus a ramp.

In addition to the AllEars website linked above, you can see some pics on the WDW website as well, just be sure to set the filters for the accessible, and then wheelchair accessible cabins (the default shows non-accessible).

Enjoy your vacation!

I have booked a roll-in cabin before and the bathroom was larger than in a regular cabin. I was there before the recent remodel that placed the Queen bed instead of the Double. The bed is placed against the wall, but I do not know if there will be much room between the Queen and the bunks.
