Cabins for six?

Are there any cabins that sleep six? What are the best options for a family with two adults and four young kids -- 1, 3, 5, and 6? I know two cabins is an option, but I wasn't sure if there were cabins for a party this size and the DCL site was being wonky.

I believe the classics have a two bedroom that would suit you, but it's concierge and books fast. It's probably cheaper to book two rooms. If you get two that are connecting, you can have the napping kids nap in one while the other two can play in the other. It might work out quite well for you.

we stayed in the Walt Suite on the Wonder and it has a master bedroom and a second bedroom with 2 twin beds and 2 pull down bunks. Seems like it would be perfect for 6 people.

The royals and the 2-bedroom suites on Magic/Wonder are it when it comes to 6. For the price of those, you could book many “normal” cabins. For booking, there has to be an adult in each room so you’ll have to split them for that - for actual occupation/sleeping, you can do whatever you like.

We are a family of 5 with 3 kids who were 1, 3 and 5. We did the connecting inside staterooms with the magical porthole (Fantasy).

My wife and I stayed in one room and the kiddies had the other rooms to themselves. There's a heavy door between both rooms and we stuck the deadbolt out just in case it accidentally slammed shut, which it did not.

The kids slept in the bunk beds, the baby in a pack and play and the bed was unused in that room.

Pricing was the same for 2 inside staterooms vs. 1 veranda (sleeps 5).

Cheers!

The two bedrooms and the Royal suites on the Magic and Wonder can sleep up to 7. For my wife's 60th birthday, I splurged and booked us the Walt suite, but we only had 3 people in it. Also, on the 5 night out of Miami, the price for this suite was not outrageous.

Multiple rooms is what I stated. For example, for a 5-night cruise out of Miami in April 2019 on the Magic for just 2 adults, the Royal is $14230.

For that price, one could book 6 standard inside rooms ($2280),
or almost 6 deluxe inside rooms ($2380),
or 5 deluxe ocean view rooms ($2580)
or 4 deluxe ocean views with verandah ($3080)
or 3 deluxe family ocean views with verandah ($4430), etc, etc.

The royals are great, but if cost is an issue for someone with a party over 4-5, there are many less expensive options.

good points! Thanks!

I'd price it both ways, but normally it will be cheapest to get 2 adjoining rooms. We always have 2 and we just leave the 2 doors between the rooms open. It's really nice to have 2 bathrooms (4 sinks if you're in a deluxe), 2 TV's, ect

I would think the two connecting rooms would always be cheaper than a concierge royal or 2 br suite. However, you dont get the concierge amenities which we love.................but those do come with a cost.

When I took my wife, our 5 night cruise out of Miami on the Wonder in the Walt suite was much less than that.

Your price was great for a Royal - almost 3 times that amount - bad :-) What a difference 3 years makes.

Thanks for the breakdown.

That was a great price!

That was a great price!
I agree, I was surprised when I saw the price. I had originally planned on booking a regular verandah for use, but when I saw that price for the royal, I couldn't resist the once in a lifetime upgrade splurge for her birthday.

Just a bit of clarification - "adjoining" means rooms next door to each other, or across the hall from each other. Neither of which has an interior opening door between the two rooms.

"connecting" means that two rooms next door to each other have an interior connecting door.

Thank you for that info. That;s an important detail!

In 2012 we splurged for a 2br on the Wonder for 7 nights to Mexico out of LA. It was our first, and we figured our only, cruise (silly us) and so went all in. There were five of us - 2 adults, 3 young kids. The cost was $8400.
Since then we have always gotten a veranda for 5.
It’s funny, our host that cruise asked the first day if it was our first time cruising and when we told her yes she smiled and said, “ Now you have a problem. Once you’ve been in this suite you will have a hard time with a normal cabin when you sail again. And you WILL sail again.”
She was right. The kids still talk about that 2br suite, but the cost is just not justified for us.
Sadly, the OP has little choice. They can connect two cabins (more economical) or take the suite. With little kids I feel the suite better served us at the time just because the extra space provided them with a place to “go down” as needed, and they remained in close proximity to us.
