Cabins at FW~ hints for a fabulous stay

Get there early for movie night.
We brought stuff for smores and then we bought sticks there for 75cents each which isn't bad.
Not only did we make smore at the campfire we made hotdogs:laughing:

:yay::woohoo: i am getting excited and writing all the ideas down you all are sending out.... June 20th arrive

The one thing we needed that we didn't have in the cabin was a pizza pan. We bought pizza from the trading post and realized after we bought it there wasn't a pan...next time we are bringing a few throw away ones

Great tips, please keep these coming!!! We arrive in 25 days!!! WOOHOO!!! First onsite stay....and we'll be in the cabin, I'm excited! I got Coffee and filters, and sugar packets, individual creamers ready to go! I think I want to get some of those to go coffee cups, for us to take with us, that'll be good for Dad and DH for their morning coffee!!! We won't be cooking in the cabin, which is fine by me, but I do like having the deck, and the fridge, DH can't go anywhere without his coke!! Since he quit smoking, he's onto coke!!!!

We are bringing our own marshmallows, and instead of buying or bringing a stick, I was gonna do it the old fashioned way and go get a real stick from somewhere, ya know? :hippie:

Hopefully the Fort police won't come running after us while we are 4 wheeling in the woods :lmao:, drinking;), picking up sticks for the marshmallows. :confused3

Things that worked well for us...

Garden Grocer!

Packing items it didn't make sense to buy from garden grocer (GOOD coffee, filters, a couple other small things).

Sending special trip coffee mugs ahead. The ones in the cabin are TINY! And I like a big cup for coffee. More than one.

Pop up hamper

Hanging toiletry sorter. With 6 of us, it was nice however the bathroom is surprisingly roomy!

I agree on using the tops of the cabinets on both sides of the murphy bed for luggage.

There are not any cookie sheets in the kitchen, a problem for making biscuits or cinnamon rolls (or pizza). Workarounds were available though.

We didn't have a car for most of our trip, or a golf cart and it was fine. I think it really really depends on the ages of your group. However, without a car or cart I'd request a cabin at the front, or end of the loop as to be close to the internal bus stop. It worked wonderfully for us!

Here's a question:
If you bring down some cookie sheets or pizza pans, and leave them in the kitchen when you check out, will Mousekeeping leave them there? Or will they remove them?

I guess what I'm getting at, is, things that you don't want to bring back home, such as those pans and mugs from home, are you better off bringing them to another family who might just be checking in?

(Hoping to convince sister(s) to stay at Ft Wildnerness Sept 2010..cabin or rent-a-trailer..):flower3:

I would almost guarantee that they are removed, perhaps to Lost & Found, and then eventually to the property sale. I would think finding a neighbor to pass it on to would be a better option.

Cheap over the door shoe organizer (the type that lays flat against the door) worked out great for bathroom toiletries since counter top is limited if you have a lot of people.

We used pop up cubes here as our "drawers" for undies, etc. Also dollar store zip bag for under bed storage worked out great.

Oh and yes those post it hooks worked great. We were able to easily remove them when we left.

After a few searches it seems I should probably add some wine glasses and beer mugs to our packing list.....
WE don't DO wine and beer out of plastic!::snooty:.........:rotfl:

DH loves a frosty cold one after a day at the parks....or just just about anytime!;)

These are all GREAT tips. Thanks! Our next trip will be our first time at the Fort. We can't wait!:cool1::thumbsup2:dance3:

Thanks for all the great tips! My notebook is full of new items to take now! We will be at the cabins 9/21 - 10/1. So excited!!!:woohoo:

I thought of something else that I found. Avon has a fabric type of car trunk organizer that I bought to bring along. It folds down flat, but has dividers in it to make it into three sections. We're bringing that along for our socks. Can't ever seem to have enough clean, dry socks.
