You guys are awesome!! Great, Great , Great advise. Your making me get very excited for our trip!!! Where could I get battery operated lights for the golf cart????
We LOVE LOVE LOVE the cabins! Unfortunately for our trip this month we will be at POR for the first time in about 8 trips. Well not totally unfortunate since we WILL be in Disney!
One big tip....bring a cookie sheet. That's one thing they dont have and is great for refrigerator cookie dough and/or pizza. And you could fit that easily in your suitcase.
For starters you should stock up on food and do a lot of your own cooking. The kitchens in the cabins are nice and it will save you a lot of money on meals.
You should bring an extra blanket just in case. They provide one spare blanket but I found my family always needed two spares, but that was just my family.
Besides that everything else is pretty much provided.
Hope you have a great first time there, it's such a nice place to stay!!!!1

I found them at my local Walgreens - Orange LED lights about 6' or7' long - uses two AA batteries and are supposed to burn for about 70 hours on one set of batteries - 3 for $10.00. I bought 3 sets for the cart.

If you need extra blankets ask mousekeeping so you don't need to pack them. Trails End no longer has the take out from the buffet but you can get take out chicken, nachos, wings or pizza. Have a great trip, you will love it at the Fort.
Rent a golf cart, or take/buy bikes. Its a long walk from the cabins to anything and after a day in the park, taking the WDW transportation to face more walking puts a little damper on the experience.
I know, we didn't when we stayed in the cabins. It's the biggest mistake we've made in going to WDW
Things we brought, or purchased from the winn-dixie out on Apopka Vineland road :
coffee filters and coffee (large pot is a standard 10-12 cup)
water bottles
ponchos for the kids (4.99!)
red plastic cups for your choice of beverages in travel form
matches, charcoal, etc
beverages, snacks, groceries etc
my other recommendation is to bring COFFEE MUGS. the little teacups they give you are fine for OJ but not big enough for a good cup o' joe. you can use the glass jelly jar glasses in a pinch though.
Also, pick up a Winn-Dixie store card while you are there. saved ust quite a bit of $$ on the clipless coupons...
