How do you book for a family of 5? Does the age of the child matter? One of the children is currently 2. If the cruise sails before shes 3 will Disney require her to have her own bed?

There are limited categories of staterooms (and therefore limited staterooms) that accommodate a party of 5. Another option is to book 2 connecting rooms, which may be same price or even less expensive than the one larger stateroom.

DCL policies are quite different than WDW. All passengers count towards occupancy, though you may still request a pack-n-play for the little one. Occupancy takes into consideration life vests and muster station/lifeboat space. Fares for the first 2 passengers in a stateroom are full-fare regardless of age, fares for 3rd/4th/5th passengers is less - and less still for younger children. In most cases, you are able to select specific staterooms when you book, therefore connecting rooms are guaranteed (barring an unexpected maintenance issue but I haven't read of that situation occurring).

Enjoy your cruise!

DD and I had an ocean view room that slept 5......queen bed, bunk beds and Murphy bed.
If you put 5 in for number of people, the options for 5 should come up

Ok thank you all. How do I know if it is selecting a room for 5? When I put in traveler information and dates it just says 5 guest 1 stateroom. Can I assume that room accommodates 5?

I have a cabin booked in Feb that sleeps 5. Last cruise I had outside room and and inside room across the hallway, my mom ended up joining us so it was then 6

One more question, if the cruise leaves on the 3rd birthday of the child, then you will be required to pay the fare?

All people have fares, they aren't free under 3. I think it is half price fare under 3 and then it goes up from there.

One more question, if the cruise leaves on the 3rd birthday of the child, then you will be required to pay the fare?

ALL passengers are charged a fare. For children who are 3rd/4th/5th passenger in the stateroom, fares are based on the age at the time of embarkation. If you will be boarding the cruise ON the birthday, then the child is considered 3 yrs old. If you board the day prior, then fare is based on a 2-yr-old. I'm not positive but believe the fare may be slightly lower for a 2 yr old vs a 3 yr old, but it's probably not a huge difference. DCL knows the child's age because you have to provide dates of birth for all passengers that will match the documentation (passport or birth certificate) presented as ID before boarding.

Other things to think about if the child's age is playing a role in your considerations: the Oceaneers Club/Lab are for ages 3-12, no exceptions. You may bring a little one to Open House times at the Club/Lab, but you cannot drop off for secured programming until that magical 3rd birthday. A 2-yr-old is only be allowed to attend secured programming in the Nursery before the 3rd birthday. There is a charge ($9? per hour) for the Nursery, and you can reserve spots ahead of time. As a 3-yr-old, the child is allowed to attend either the Nursery or the Club/Lab. If remaining with older siblings during drop-off times is important for your little one, then you'll want to be sure the child is 3 when you sail.

Enjoy your cruise!

We booked two connecting regular verandahs for just a little bit more than a Family verandah and thus had much more space, 2 bathrooms and 2 TV's etc. But our children are older, it sounds like . . . But you can keep the connecting doors propped open the whole time.

With 3 young children a Family stateroom would work great, too.

Hi there,

We are a family of five and are cruising on the Magic next Sunday.
Instead of booking 1 suite that sleeps 5, I booked TWO staterooms that connect. Not only was this cost efficient, it also gave us two bathrooms, with a ton of towels and bath amenities. Two closets, two sets of drawer space, two t.v.'s, two refrigerators and several sleeping options. I found this to be a wise decision. Happy sailing!

Also, you may consider Two rooms so that your toddler has a quiet place to nap. This will give you a chance to order room service (get something yummy) and catch a flick while the little gets her beauty sleep. You could do this everyday! I booked my hubby with my son in one room and I'm with the girls in another. You don't have to sleep that way.
