Cabin trip Report Apr 30-May6th

The ride back and forth from MK is delightful. I love hearing the horn. Yeah, we are at Disney.

A few of us went to the pool, the rest of slept or fished. The main pool was crowded. I think everyone was there instead of the parks. But not so crowded that you couldn’t enjoy yourself. My son LOVED the new slide. Boy do you go flying off of it. There were about 5 parents plucking their kids out of the water after their kids went down. It had a pretty good current. I looked for a place to rent a life vest but didn’t find one. Maybe someone can enlighten me. I think DS went down it at least 20 times. I met some nice friendly people at the pool. That is also one of the secret perks to Fort Wilderness. The people that go there are friendly. I hope all of you have a top-secret clearance. Well, I know TCD does. How else does he get all of those photos?

OMG we were camping this past weekend locally - first camping trip since we got back from FW in December (after being there for 3 weeks).

I got up our first morning, went to wash my face, and was just waiting to hear the horn from the MK launch. :rotfl:

...alas, no horn. :sad2:

5 months and 17 days!!! (not that I'm counting :rolleyes1)

Great report - can't wait to read more!

Great TR! Can't wait until I'm there myself! Three more weeks. Or 23 days. But I'm not counting either. ;)

HI

THanks ya'll

Oh jeepers!! What a naughty little kitty - doesn't she know she's supposed to be nice to her new momma?

Definitely take good care of that.

Ouch! So sorry to hear that! Hope you recover easily!

I love your report! FW is my FAVORITE place in the world. We have stayed in cabins at least 10 times....lost count...and have been in almost all the loops including 2100. We will be at OKW next week but I wish we were going to be at the cabins.:sad1:

Bring on more adventures!

Hi...Day two.

Our next park day was AK. We drove our Minivan to AK. Why? Well, our My SIL was coming in on a flight that day. We wanted a quick way to get back to the Fort. It took about 15 minutes from our cabin to the gate of AK. I paid for my SIL to take Happy Limo to the Fort. Although ME is free to guest, it takes forever to get to the resort. Especially if you have to stop many times. Happy Limo was $45 plus tax from the airport to FW. Her flight landed at 9:15 and she was at FW by 10:30 waiting on us. When I checked in, I had her key left at the counter. The staff at FW had no problem with one of our party arriving after us. :thumbsup2

This is DS at one of the "passport" area's. I am not sure if it is called that. Anyhow, once you complete the activity you get a stamp on your passport. DS really enjoyed the CM and putting together dinosaur bones.

We left AK after the KS (safari ride). BTW we only had a 20-minute wait. By the time we walked thru the zoo part after the ride (I forgot the name) and walked back to the Van it was already 10:45. Once again 15-minute drive and we were back at the fort. Just a side note, have you ever noticed that some of the gate guards would bring the gate up for you and others will just stare at you. It never failed when we would drive really close to the key slot to open the gate and then the guard would open it for you. Then on days that we thought they would open it for us, they didn’t.:rolleyes:

After she got settled in, we took the cart out to show off the fort, had a delicious lunch at the cabins and went back to AK. This time we took all six of us on the cart. (don’t tell Kenny) and headed to the bus stop. It took about 20 minutes or so. The way back is longer. It also stops at WL. It took about an hour to get back including the time standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus. Anyhow, EE posted 50-minute wait. My MIL and SIL only waited for 25 minutes. We went to Dino-land with DS5. Mistake. Is it just me or is it really hot there!!!!!! By 3pm it started to slow down. I recommend waiting until then to return back to the park.

This is DFIL after the Rapids!!!! He got drenched. It was fun and only a 20 minute wait around 4pm. It is a short ride so I wouldn't want to wait much longer.
Everyone was really tired that evening so we just hung out , BBQ steaks and watched TV. It was very relaxing. I love that about the cabins. The parks are so crazy and FW is so calm.

How sad!!!! I do love the horn. I thought it was just me!!!

Thanks everyone for reading!!! Here is a picture of the crazy new kitten. I think her name will be Ezma from Emperor's New school. She is crazier then any cat I have had. But also very loving. My DS wants to name her Mort or Gary. We are trying to change his mind.

Ooohh.... she looks like an adorable little bundle of trouble! :upsidedow

Oh how cute! But don't mind me. I envision myself being known as the cat lady when I get older. Well, cat, dog, horse.... well, you get the picture. My house is a vertual zoo. Our vet loves me. She should since 3/4ths of our family members see her instead of our family doctor.

Another MK day!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: Since my SIL wasn’t with us for the first MK, we went back to enjoy some more rides. It was another beautiful sunny day!!! Not much to report other then I went a on few things that I have never gone on. The Tikki Room was one. It was really fun. :cheer2:My son and I loved the music. The boys went fishing. DH found a guide that charged $250 for 4 hours. They just had to drive to the lake. DH has done the fishing excursion at the Fort and enjoyed it. But it was almost as expensive as this one and for a shorter amount of time. So if you love to fish and have a car, I would recommend finding an off site guide.

This evening we went to DTD to eat with out a plan. It was a mistake on my part. I was uber planning the parks so I didn’t want to micro manage the whole vacation for my family. Everyone was hungry so we ate at the second place we saw, Wolf-gang Pucks. I hadn’t been there in 10 years. It was 6pm and we got a table without ressies. It looked like Ryans in there. The tables weren’t cleared and there wasn’t enough staff for the amount of tables. Our server “up sold” me to buying an entrée ceasar to share with my son. Come to find out later that it would have been half the price for two side salads then an entrée. What a rip off. We were a table of 6 and there was an automatic %18 tip. So why not get the highest bill possible. I don’t know if this was the result of the economy or DDP but it sucks. And the food was just OK. And it was over $150 for 6 of us, one being a kid.:scared1: I just can’t justify spending that kind of money of crappy food.:mad:

T-Rex was a mad house!!!! We could barely move in the store. It looks cool. We left DTD, so we could make the movie!!!!

Over loading the golf cart!!!!

I'm loving reading your report. Would like more info on the fishing? Did this guide take them to the same lake that the FW guided trip uses? Is it also catch and release?

I might have to decide whether to get that for DH or rent the cart. (Not really that tough of a decision, is it? . . . (get the cart!)

OT- Kitty update

She has attacked my face again and left marks!!! Plus she got my son in the ear when he was sleeping. Nice huh? I called the humane society...waiting for a call back. I have never had a kitty that was so aggressive. I read that since she was orphaned, mom never was able to teach her manners. I am not sure if this is the pet if I have a 5 year old. What do you guys think?????
