For our upcoming Christmas cruise, our family of six has two cabins that are across the hall from each other. Does anyone know if we can have the key cards coded so that all cards will work to open either cabin door?

If it is possible, where do you get this done: at checkin in the terminal, on board, etc?

I know it is not possible in the Disney resorts and I believe the ship uses the same system for the keys. I worked at the resorts for 4 years and the only time we could code one key to 2 rooms was if the room was connecting (physical door in between the room) and both rooms were on the same reservation. You can always ask at check in (or at the pursers desk once on board) but I don't think they are going to be able to do that.

I got the security line. and was told that they could not code a key to open two doors. You cannot get the second key until onboard. A couple of times we did get them mixed up with our KTTW card and tried to get off the ship with the wrong ID card.

I have a simple solution - bring a sharpie and write right on the 'spare' cards that they're just to open the other's cabin door, just don't go writing cabin numbers or such on them, more something like, 'kids cabin' or such.

We had connecting rooms and they could not do this. What they did was print an extra card to only be used as a key...one for me and one for my hsband. That way we had keys to get in the room to which we were not actually assigned. You'll just have to have 2 KTTW cards in the paper sleeve they give you instead of one.
