cabin review

We had an excellant stay at the FW cabins on Jan5-10th. We choose the cabins because of the kitchen, bedroom and location. This was our second time staying there and we really loved it. I am not much for reviews but I will bullet list the things we enjoyed as a family. (Me, 40, DH41 and DS3)
1) Son loved the golf cart and so did we. It was fun.
2) Boat ride to MK
3) The quiet!!!!
4) No kids running down the hall and being worried that your kid is bothering others.
5) THe deck.
6) Nature
7) Get retreat away from the parks.
8) Eating meals (that you make) that were often better then what is in the parks.
9) An overall healthy attitude that fellow campers and cabiners have. Lots of bike riding, walking and running.
10) the beach and watching the fireworks from the beach.

We didn't like
1) buffet. Too greasy.

I highly recommend this place for families with small children. The parks can be very overwhelming to a 3 year old. And he really enjoyed being in the cabin.

I like your thought on the Cabins. You mentioned MANY of the reason I enjoy Camping & Fort Wilderness. I'm Glad you had a great time with the family.

but it sounds like 'us'...we camp during the summer but not for more than 2 nights at a time. This sounds really fun for us & our 8, 6 and 5 year old.

We stayed in 2 connecting rooms at POP last time which was also nice. Couple questions...

1) Is golf cart necessary? Quick access to how to reserve and price idea?

2) How do you take the boat to MK...that sounds awesome...

3) 2500 is preferred loop? Any other tips?

A golf cart is not needed but fun if you want one. They can be reserved when you make your cabin reservation, and run about $47 a day. There are internal Fort Wilderness buses that take you where you need to go. If you want to take the boat to Magic Kingdom you first would take a bus going to the Settlement and then a short walk to the marina. You can also get a bus to MGM at the Settlement. If you want to go to Epcot, Animal Kingdom or Downtown Disney you would take a bus going to the Outpost where you also check-in. All the cabin loops are the same, 2500, 2600 and 2700 are nearest the cabin pool. Loops 2100, 2200, and 2300 are nearest to the Meadows trading post, pool, and campfire program.

We just had our first stay in the cabins and also loved it and the whole FW atmosphere. We also liked it for many of the OP's reasons listed.

We did have an electric cart and highly recommend it! Not only was it like another ride for the kids it speeded up our getting around FW. If you don't have a cart you have to wait for an internal bus to take you to the boat dock or bus depot or store or main pool etc. It was great to just hop on the cart and go.

It was amazing to us what a different experience FW provided to our Disney vacation. Actually that is one of the things that keep us coming back to Disney is that the themed resorts really provide different feelings and experiences while in the same resort. We will absolutley be back to FW.

We loved our cabin stay too! We did not rent a golf cart and got along just fine without it. My main "con" for the cabins was having just one bathroom. We are a family of six with two teen girls! The campground seems like a whole different world doesn't it?
