cabin luggage

Am flying with airtours soon and have just checked website re hand luggage dimensions which are smaller for charter airlines than scheduled. It states the height/depth of the one piece of cabin luggage must not exceed 20cm (8inches).

This seems really small to me...can anybody let me know how they managed?

Hi, Gatwick's site states 56cm tall, 45cm wide and 25cm deep. My flight bag measures 34cm tall, 38cm wide and 18cm deep and I've never had a problem with it.

If you have a look at the dft website that Airtours mentions it states the following:

Each passenger is restricted to carrying only one item of cabin baggage through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage.

I know charter a smaller but 20cm tall seems a bit strange!
