Cabin info.

Just got of the phone with the Fort and 2100 loop is now open and remodeled.

We're heading down on the 15th and I would really like to know what loop(s) have renovated cabins.

Also, how likely are you to get a loop that you request (provided they are available)?

Thanks!

8 More days!!!

Yes, they indicated that 2100 was the only remodeled loop. I will tell you more when we check in.

Pics if I can post them
Other loop status
And if I get my requested 2100 loop with remodeled cabin.

Anyone else down there this week?

We leave today (Saturday) for the cabins and check out on Thurs.

Well when we checked in yesterday I asked for a cabin in the 2100 loop and got the last one!!! They are very nice! Of course not having been in the cabins before I don't know what was remodeled. So I'll give you my best guess on what I think they may have done.
The shower has a curved shower curtain bar so there is elbow room when you shampoo. Also there are small shelves on the top of the tub which is perfect for shaving your legs. The rafters in the kitchen / LR area look new and the CM when I checked in said "they re-did the walls". I know some of you were interested in the art work. We have a lithograph of Bambi and a much larger watercolor print of what looks like the old train that went through the fort with people in canoes on 1 side.

The drapes are a finely spun polyster so they feel like silk. They are marroon with pine boughs and pine cone print. The bedspreads now are similar to the rug in the LR instead of that flowery pattern. Still has a combo vcr/dvd player and an LG rear projection tv (not flat panel, but we think flat screen though not wide screen).

I'm now comparing to the pix on allears and the couch is now a navy blue but with seat cushions that are marroon with a small repeating pattern of leaves. Matching pattern on the kitchen chairs. Instead of the small square table in the LR in front of the couch is a dark brown leather ottoman that is regtangular with faux wood legs to match the chairs.

I'll try to get pictures up but we've spread so much personal stuff out you can't see the furniture!

At least you have an idea of what has changed. Now I have to run so DH can see the mess that was the Bears game.:rolleyes1

Thanks sasmmb for the updated info. :thumbsup2

We are heading to the cabins this Friday.   It sounds like the cabins were given mini-face lifts. A couple of questions if you have time to answer....

* Was there any 'standing' water around the cabins you were near in the 2100 loop? I had read that there was areas throughout FW and that bugs were becoming more of a problem.

* How have the crowds been at the parks so far? :3dglasses

* Could you please confirm what type of filters the coffee pot takes. Are they provided or do we need to bring some?:coffee:

* Will you still be there when we get there Friday? :wizard:

* I have my lime green Mickey's ready for our bags and then for the parks. I made some into luggage tags. Have you spotted any other DIS'ers?:bounce:

Any other insights will be appresciated as it will be our first time to stay in FW. :dance3:

Thanks for you time and answers! :thanks:

There is some standing water but nothing horrible. The bugs haven't seemed that bad. I even went for a walk on the nature trail by the Settlement trading post and didn't really notice anything.

Crowds have been quite light. 5 minute wait for lots of attractions. Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan and the like had 30- 40 minute waits but that's what FastPass is for! BTMRR had a 5-10 minute wait. Starting around 8:30 PM you could just stay on Dumbo and ride it as much as you wanted.

There were no filters. I think the coffee in the room is that coffee and filter combo. But no one in our cabin likes that coffee so we brought our own. We also brought our own filters but they are the cone shaped and don't fit either the 4 cup or 10 cup coffee maker in the room so we bought some at the Meadows Trading Post for $1.29.

We leave on Thursday so we'll just miss you! :sad2:

I did see another DIS'er today and complimented him on his LGMH and he just said "Thanks" and walked off. I was a little offended..:confused3

Have a great trip!!!!

Sorry cant post pics but the cabins are very nice

Two coffee makers in our cabin a small one and large one. No filters unless you get cabin 2109 we left some behind for you.

No standing water in 2100 but other loops had some. They clearing out alot of brush and doing some extensive ground work in the cabin areas north of 2100.

I did see a lot of standing water on the loops on the west side of the road. Dont think I would want to stay there but like I said they are doing alot of ground work.

No love bugs last week but we did hit them going home. I think they are on their way. Saw lots of rabbits, deer, turkey, frogs and lizards.

Posting from a cabin in the 2200 loop right now.

Asked for the 2100 loop when we checked in and they were so seriously over-booked that we were lucky to get a cabin at all! I saw them walk at least one group to another resort!

I saw several loops that looked like they were being redone. It may have been landscaping or a cabin renovation, I couldn't tell.

Our cabin looks brand new. I can't imagine how much better the 2100 loop cabins could be. All new appliances, 32" TV and DVD/VCR combo (not like we have had time to watch any movies!)

For anyone interested, RENT THE GOLFCART!! It was a life saver!

BTW, third day we got several towel animals!!!

I'm considering booking a cabin as part of my next visit to WDW. Does the golf cart really help with the getting about the resort and what age do you need to be to drive one? The reason I ask is my daughter will be almost 16 and we saw people around that age driving them on the roads in Gasparilla Island, Florida this year. My daughter would love the chance if the age restriction permits it.

My only concern about Fort Wilderness is the transport problems that many people have mentioned. I'd rather not have a hire car for that part of my trip but don't really want to spend large a large amount of valuable fun time waiting about/transferring on buses.
Can anyone help put my mind at ease or let me know if the transport really is a problem and how they got around this.:)

I highly recommend getting the cart!

You have to be 18 to rent, but anyone with a driver's license can drive! So you should be good!

The carts are a great time and leg saver, plus they are fun!!!

If you want my two cent please check out the reply to post

If I cant make up my mind they are going to cart me away.

Bottom line if you can afford it. GET THE CART. The Fort is too big and there is no parking other than your site.

Good to know! I wasn't sure what look they were going for before - Grandma's cabin in the woods?

Thanks for posting. Would love to see pictures. Anyone?

Sorry, this is the only one I ended up getting inside the cabin. But you can tell what the drapes and couch look like!

I love the bench seat, the kitchen table, and the wooden looking kitchen chairs that go with the table!

Last year on a business trip to Orlando (:rotfl2: ) I left myself some time and went out to MouseSurplus' warehouse. I think they may have moved since then. It was to the west of the airport. Not what I expected but, then again, I didn't know what to expect. I have seen stuff from the Poly and Contemporary show up on MouseSurplus, even Wilderness Lodge. They sometimes offer complete "sets" of furniture with beds, dressers, mirrors, tables, chairs, etc from the Resorts.

I'm gonna keep an eye out for the FW cabin stuff and maybe see what the sets or pieces they have look like.
