Just finished making all our magnets to decorate our cabin door for our June cruise to celebrate my son's HS graduation. Would LOVE to see pictures of door decorations. Anyone have any they can share?

Sure, I never mind sharing a picture or 2

I would love to share but don't have any pics yet. We are going on our 1st Disney cruise next month. All our magnets are made and ready to go! Unfortunately, my refrigerator is not magnetic (that fingerprint resistant stainless steel stuff), so I have no where to display until we go.

One tip for those making magnets is to ensure the laminate used is thick enough that they lay flat when you put them on a level surface. Last year when I had them laminated, Staples used a heavier weight of laminate and all my magnets adhered to the door. This year (I didn't realize at the time) they used a lighter weight laminate that curved up when placed on a flat surface and regardless of how many magnets we attached, everything fell off our doors. I was SO disappointed as I'd spent hours and hours ordering, printing, cutting out, etc. the 50+ magnets for our 3 staterooms only to have them not stick.

The last day of our trip we celebrated my DD's birthday and it was then that I realized what the difference was as all her birthday magnets stuck to the door.

Lesson learned! Hope I've saved someone else from this disappointment.

Thanks for the tip. I have "tested" all mine on my fridge at home, and they all stuck and stayed put. Hopefully they will do the same on the cabin door.

I ordered printable magnetic sheets from Amazon and made my own using Excel and images I found on the internet. They seem to be holding up well so far (4 cruises with them). The Ohio State one is the only one that is purchased. I don't know if it's allowed or I would have added the link to this page for purchasing them.

If this shows up then I'm amazed! I've never posted a single picture before. If not, oh well....

I went a little crazy. It didn't really matter though. We were in an aft cabin and no one really had to pass our door. :o

Love them, keep them coming! Yes, moremouse, I can see it fine. Looks great, and mine will be just as full, lol. We are aft also, 7678, but I still plan to use every available space.:P

That's not "going crazy" - this is

That's why a large number of them are flat-sided. A paper cutter works great.

I am totally OCD. I actually took each one that I printed on photo paper, cut them out, then put them on the magnet sheets and cut them out AGAIN! :rolleyes1

Some of those individual characters had a some tight spaces to cut between.

I usually change the door number character each day depending on what the theme of the day or port is. Just noticed the ears are missing from the Sorcerer Hat...funny, didn't even notice that onboard. Hope they didn't walk.

That's how I do it also. The Mickey heads (formerly available at Home Depot) were the hardest.

What is the best way to print them out? Do you use card stock, then laminate, and ad magnet strips to the back? What seems to work best for you veteran cruisers?
