 We are going to CSR the first full week of August and are getting conflicting reports about which area is the best to stay in...Cabanos or Ranchos. We'd appreciate any feed back that you have!!

I loved the Cabanas. We were in 9B when we were there last week. I had read that people liked the look of the ranchos better, but for me location was important. I wanted to be near the Pepper Market and also close to the main pool. I loved sitting out at the hammocks and just relaxing. If you do go with the Cabanas I thought another good location was 9A. There was a quiet pool right there and it was still close to main pool and Market.

Good luck, no matter what you choose, it will be wonderful!

Haven't stayed here (although I want to stay in the junior suites sometime). But I have seen lots of folks posting that they have been happy with the Cabanas because they are close to the check- in area (restaurants, bus stop, etc.).

Ranchos look cool, but are a distance from the action!

We were in Ranchos last year, as recommended by Passporter (I try hard to do what Jennifer and Dave say!). They were bright and sunny and we liked the location, fairly close to the main pool. It was a hike to the restaurant, but the walk was nice because the lake is so pretty. Here's my issue with cabanas -- it's where the business folks/conventioneers stay. YUK! When we were there it was a zillion school nurses, gotta love them, but guys in suits with cell phones would make me feel like I was on vaction with the FBI...

Just my 2 cents.

I thought all convention guests were put in the Casitas?

The Ranchos are very dry looking and wouldn't be my choice in August. They're also quite a hike from the food court.

The Cabanas section is my favorite followed by the Casitas. At CSR, you really want to aim for as close to the food court as you can get since the place is so big.

:D

I always mix up Cabanas and Casitas. I just wondered if putting convention guests in the Cabanas was something new. Thought I should double check :) Thanks for the clarification!

we really loved the cabanas when we stayed there, but when walking around the resort, i thought the ranchos were the best themed and the prettiest. if we stay at csr again (which we'd like to) we will try the ranchos next time. we rarely eat at the food court, so that doesn't really matter to us. the resort is so beautiful we didn't mnd any walk we had anyways. :)

Its all a personal preference. Take a look at some photos from my website below.

Have fun deciding!

I loved Ranchos! CSR is such a beautiful resort that you really can't go wrong, though!

We have just returned from a short stay and did request the Cabana section-8B. When CSR first opened, they put us in the Casita's and I felt the same way. Far too many business/convention guests and felt way out of place! We thought the Cabana section had more of a family feel, we were close to the elevator (nice when you're tugging luggage)..the Pepper Market and main pool & the quiet pool was almost right outside our door .:D

HI, TAKARA

I REQUESTED CABANA 9B, YOU SAY THERE ARE ELEVATORS AT THE CABANAS, I THOUGHT THEY WERE ONLY 2 FLOORS? I AM GOING TO CSR IN 3 WEEKS AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW AS MUCH AS I COULD ABOUT THE RESORT.

THANK YOU DIANE:D

I had faxed a request for Casitas and when we arrived our room was not ready, but she had a room in Ranchos. I decided to wait for my room , but came back later and it was still not ready. She had a room in Cabanas and we took it. All of the areas are nice, but Cabanas is the more "plain" looking to me. Ranchos would be my first choice, followed by Casitas. Walking around this resort is part of its beauty and ambience. You don't want to see nothing but your room and the food court at this resort. You will REALLY miss out. In one day I walked all around the place TWICE taking pictures.
There are good food choices at the pool for lunch.

You could just.... let them pick a room for you and be surprised!!

Cabana fan here. I like buildings 9B or 8A. If you smoke, try 9A.

Ranchos all the way!

Of course, the cabanas could be just as magical, too. I might just take susy's advice and let them surprise you. :Pinkbounc Hope this helps. :D

I liked the Ranchos. The walk to the Pepper Market is pretty and really nothing horrible, maybe ten minutes. I have two daughters and Ranchos put us close to the Dig Site and pool which was what they liked. My vote is Ranchos if you have kids.

We stayed in the Ranchos in 2000 and we loved it, didn't seem like a far walk to the food court to us. Sometimes we'd walk there on one side of the lake and come back on the other. In contrast, just got back from a week at CBR in Jamaica in a building right next to the bridge to Port Royale. It seemed like a real hike to me in comparison to the Ranchos and Pepper Market. And I don't mind walking. I liked CBR OK, but don't know if I'd ever go back there. On the other hand, I'll definitely go back to Coronado Springs. We liked it as well as WL the year we split our stay between the two. The two resorts were hard to compare because they are so different, but we liked each one equally.

We just got back from Cabanas 8A and it was wonderful! We were across from the quiet pool and not too far from everything. My kids loved the beach and hammock outside our room. Beautiful! When we checked in, we were told that the hotel was at 66% capacity so if we were not happy with that theming, visit guest services and they would accomodate us with a change in room! They even called a couple times to make sure we were happy with our room and location. When you check in, just ask what is available during your trip and they will do their best to accomodate. Check the other websites to view pictures also!My aunt stayed in 7A and said it was a little run down though. Didnt see it. Have a wonderful and magical trip and good luck with your choice!

I too stayed in Cabanas 8A and loved it. It was close to a bus stop, the Dig site (especially nice to slip into the hot tub late at night) and only a short walk along the bridge to the Pepper Market where I did often eat and use my refillable mug. I would definitely stay in 8A again, but all those other Disney resorts I haven't stayed in keep calling my name!
