Cabanas, Executive Lanai, and Ama Ama Casabellas for Dec

This may be old news to folks but wanted to let you know that all reserved seating (cabanas, executive lanai and the ama ama casabellas are all booked from 12/19/16 through 1/2/17.

....at least that's what i was told when i called this morning to reserve the executive lanai for 12/28.

oh well...guess DH will be waking up early to get a few chairs for us in the morning.

I've read that people cancel a lot since you don't pre-pay. I would keep calling and checking, especially closer to the dates.

that is correct. the lady on the phone who i talked to said people call everyday sometimes to check on availability. and that their policy is a 24-hour cancellation. i'll try to call once a week...not sure if i have time to call everyday!!!

i've also read that a 'no-show' by 10am the day off is considered a cancellation...then again, we'll be there during one of the busiest time of the year, so cancellations may not be likely...

just to let you know, it is not that difficult to get a chair. we are here now (supposedly 95% capacity or higher due to the LPGA tournament from another post here) and due to the time difference (3 hrs for us as we are from the west coast) it has been easy to get up early in the morning. on Monday we made it down there around 7:30 and had no trouble getting a couple chairs, with umbrellas even. on Tuesday we found some at 8:15. if you don't care about shade it will be even easier.

at the lagoon we found two chairs with umbrellas at 2:30 on tuesday. there are empty chairs in full sun all around.

now if you want life vests for little ones you will definitely want to head down early. we got the last small one at the family infinity pool yesterday at 8:15. but the CM told the lady behind me she might be able to get more from other stands near the lazy river or rainbow reef.

I've read the no-show thing too! I told my husband we have to get there by 10am or they will give our casabellas to the next people! I would call every week. Maybe more then once a week when the time gets closer. Hopefully you will be able to grab a beach casabella if you can't snag something else first. Good luck! =)

my parents will be with us in december so i was hoping to secure a shaded area/chairs for them to sit and relax. i've already texted my DH to let him know that he'll have to get up early to get us 4 chairs, preferably a couple with an umbrella (for the parents). he's an early riser anyways, so he's definitely willing to do this! LOL. there will be 11 of us, but we definitely don't need 11 chairs!! i'm guessing 4 (maybe 5) will be good for us.

that makes sense in wanting to get a cabana. they do feel a bit more out of the way and not quite at the center of action, though that's probably the point, to have some peace and quiet!

so front desk told me this weekend is very busy, but next weekend and the week after will be quite nice.

still saw plenty of empty chairs by the family infinity pool at 8 this morning though.

some lady i talked to randomly in line claimed she was unable to find chairs after 7 am yesterday and i honestly have no idea what she was talking about. it's true that if you want shade you do have to head down a little earlier, but there really are plenty of chairs. i wish i hadn't stressed so much about this before getting here.

EDIT: i want to note that the resort is supposedly currently quite full due to the LPGA tournament that's taking place across the street at the Ko Olina Golf Club. even with that, one can still get chairs, so have no fear, people.

just curious...how far in advance did you reserve your cabanas? we just made our december reservations on 4/10 and by the time i called on 4/12, ALL reserved seating have been booked.

it's curious that the CM told me "the week after next weekend" will be very good, because that's exactly the last week of April. i specifically mentioned 4/25 to her because a friend will be arriving then.

Our Aulani wedding planner told us the resort was at capacity at that time when we were switching around rooms last week. I also did a quick search online and there's zero availability April 28-30. The only availability they have opens up starting May 1st.

as long as you have a hotel reservation number, you can reserve a cabana. i believe you pay upon arrival (you don't pre-pay over the phone for your rental). in fact, folks have 24-hours to cancel a cabana reservation!

You can't prepay, but once you're at Aulani you can pay for all of your rentals at once for the week. I had asked about this because we have a group of 18 and the cabanas are in my name but I'm not always going to be the one checking in. So they told me I can pay for the week all at once when I get there.
