Can someone tell me about these? What do they include how much to rent.. ect. Any photos?

Java - Lives4Disney did this on one of her trips.

We did the cabanas at HRH and they were wonderful. They were stocked with water, soda and fruit basket. They had tvs and fans, a table ,4 chairs and 2 lounges. I think the GF ones are on that order. I think we paid $100 a day at HRH, or maybe a little more.

I was looking into them for our GF stay - but SURPRISE! we switched to the Poly because there seems to be quite a bit of construction scheduled for GF for July. Of course you know I'm always watching AP rates so who knows. If and when any are released for our time period I could be staying anywhere! Let me know what you find out about the cabanas in case we end up back at GF. I thought the cabanas would be a good first day/last day options. That way we wouldn't feel "homeless".

Could you please tell me more about the construction for July. My dis-family of 4 currently have a Magic Kingdom View Room booked for a week in July at the Grand Floridian. I'm concerned considering the expense.

Thank you for any and all information!!!

Java, I had some pics posted on the GF thread, but I forgot we switched hosts and they're gone! I will try and post them later.

I think it was $60 and I THINK it is for 4 hrs. 10am to 2 pm or 3 pm to 7 pm are the time slots (I think! I am going on memory here)

Rental Cabana amenities include:
. Two padded chaise lounge chairs
. Two padded straight-backed chairs
. Plush towels
. 22 inch LCD television with cable access and optional earphones
. Sirius Satellite Radio
. DVD/CD/MP3 player
. Phone for internal resorts calls
. Oscillating Fan
. Mini refrigerator stocked with complementary sodas and water
. Complementary fruit basket
. Private dining and poolside massages are available at an
additional cost.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

I called GF and inquired about the construction since we were booked there July 6-12 after a stay at YC. I was told the construction for July was the Conch Key building and 1900 Park Fare. I decided to switch to the Poly MK View. I don't know how disrupting the construction will be. I just remember when we stayed at the Poly last summer the construction took away from the ambiance of the resort. Others didn't mind it at all, so I don't want to discourage anyone from staying there. We decided to just switch for this trip and stay at the GF in January 2008 when DH runs the marathon again.

OOH they sound swanky!:beach: I like the idea of using them on check in day. I think they would be great in the summer when it is so darn hot. Don't know if I need it in April? But the filled fridge is tempting....I think I could spend $60 just on drinks for us at the pool.. You know we had a hard time picking hotels this time. We really loved the Poly and then thought maybe we should give the BC another go around... but then got the AAA at the GF and well couldn't get it at the Poly and then just said "oh what the heck..." We never did swim in the pool last time we were there. So much running around I don't know why but we just never got there. Hmm to cabana or not..that is the ? do you have to book in advance?
Love those AG dresses by the way! How funny that we have AG and disney in common-(lives4disney and disneymom) Similar tastes in hotels too! Maybe we are long lost sisters..

We will be staying GF 3/23/-3/27 would like to hear more info on these cabana's. They have TVS, music? Do they come with coolers? Thanks for any info.:)

We were there that same time last year!! Sniff. I LOVE that place. It's hard to be planning a different spring break this year. I have pics of our time there - in the cabanas -last March and need DH to help me post them.:sad2: There isn't a cooler, but a fridge that has bottled water and Coke products in it. There is a fruit basket on the table. It is a bit swanky, lol.

You do need to reserve this cabana in advance, however, every time I have been to the GF pool area the reserved one has been empty so not sure how popular and well known this is. You reserve thru the GF marina and I think you need a CC deposit down.

Java, thanks! Yes, we must have great taste! ;) My DD7 has this Chocolate Cherry dress for her Jess doll, too. They are so cute together. :) She didn't bring Jess to Disney, though, like I thought she would! She brought her 6.5 yr old ratty BAB Dalmation instead, LOL.

You guys will love the GF. It has become our favorite Disney hotel. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Happy planning. I'll try and post the cabana pics this weekend. You can see how beautiful the March weather is, too - clear blue skies.

We were at the GF this past September and rented a cabana during one of those days.

There is a refrigerator semi stocked with beverages. I say semi because it was not all the drinks you could drink stocked full refrigerator, which I wasn't expecting, but just to make it clear for others - stocked doesn't mean STOCKED. (clear as mud, right). We had 2 cokes, 2 sprites, 1 diet coke and 3 waters. We don't drink straight coke and asked the attendant to switch the cokes for 2 more diet cokes- she was awfully put out about it- said she would try to see what she could come up with- came back with 1 more diet coke and said if we needed anymore we would have to buy one from the bar.
The fruit basket was very nice and had at least 8 pieces of fruit in it- I believe 2 each of apples, bananas, pears and oranges.
The Sirius satellite radio was nice- it was what we have at home so we could listen to some of our favorites. They do have several channels blocked so inappropriate material is not blasted ( Howard Stern, Raw Dog Comedy, etc. ).

The best part of the cabana was the wonderful padded chairs, the plentiful supply of fluffy towels(not just plain pool towels) and the shade when needed.

Hope I answered some questions.

Are these available only to Grand Floridian guests? This could be a treat for my son and daughter-in-law but we won't be staying at the Grand Floridian.

Yes, as only GF guests are allowed to use the pool and none of the other resorts have them that I am aware of.

I'd be reserving one at the Poly if they had it.:thumbsup2

does anybody have pictures of these?

And here you have reason number 1 why I will never again stay at the GF. They get WAY to put out about helping guests!!! I am sorry that the guest is such a problem for thier nice hotel!:rotfl: (My impression is that the people that work there want us to just be thrilled to be ALLOWED to stay there, expecting service for those high prices just seems to be an unrealistic expectation!)

Not too close up but I have one from a while ago. Not sure if they are more updated than this now.

$60 for all that? I would get one every day. Very Swanky.

Thanks, that what I thought. But then after seeing the picture I can certainly understand this. Guess I'll have to try and figure out a way to do this on my own over at Pop Century.

Well, I just found my pics from March 2006. I have pics of the fridge opened and there are at least 10 water bottles, 4 Diet Cokes, 10 Cokes, 2 Sprites & juice boxes. I will definitely post the pics later. My girls are blocking part of the fridge, but this is the amt I can see clearly and there are more items behind them. We have had the cabana a couple times during different stays and have never used up all the stuff supplied in the fridge! I had to check my pics and make sure, because my experience was so much different than you describe it.

I have ALWAYS (in MANY stays at the GF) found the CMs at the GF to be super helpful and they did actually go out of their way for us when DH needed wireless internet out there by the pool. They ran around like crazy trying to help him, so I am really surprised at how poorly you were treated.

My pics show the TV, fridge, table, nice chairs & towels. When we arrived, there was a room service CM there that asked us if all was well and if we needed anything else. He seemed ready to get whatever we wanted.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

Here are some pics of the cabana you can rent. I figured out how to post pics on my own!! :cool1:

First, here's our stocked fridge.

The rental cabana is on the far right, closest to the pool building.

WOW!! Thanks for the PHOTO!! When I saw the first round I was thinking...hmmm maybe not but after seeing the open fridge! Hello Diet Coke! and those comfy lounge chairs! I think it would be so great for the pool day- now to just decide on a pool day. or half day I guess is how they do it. Thank you so much for the pictures! Can't wait.......:woohoo: My only issue that we have ever had at the GF was the golf cart wielding landscape/maid staff- we were almost run down everyday we were there. This time I am standing firm! They can get out of MY way! *hmmm do you see a trip report in the making here.......Girl vs. Golf Cart
Thank you again for the pictures that was the seller!
