Can you have people who are not staying on site as part of your group of 6 for the cabana rental?
We will be staying at DLH but my aunties are driving down from Van to catch up, I thought it would be nice if they could play in the pool with us, obviously they can't just join us in the pool but if we paid for cabana rental could they?

Also would an infant count towards the 6 people and if so can you pay for an additional person?

Only registered Hotel guests are welcome in the pool. That would go for the cabanas as well. During busy times they will check room key cards.

I would call them and ask just to double check. Call the DLH directly. It seems to me if you're spending the $$ on a cabana, they might be willing to let you give your guests one of your room keys so they could get in. Never hurts to try. They check room keys at the pool entrance but not IDs, so the name wouldn't have to match.

You are definitely not supposed to have non hotel guests with you at the pool or in the cabana. However, I was just there (we rented a cabana). My ILs and husband were there first, and my mom and the kids and I joined them partway through (we went to the beach in the morning). We were all guests at the GCH. I did have to let us into the pool area with my room key, but once there, no one asked to see it. I am not suggesting that you do it--I think you should call the hotel and ask--just sharing that no one asked to check my key when I sat down.

As for the infant, I wouldn't worry one bit. We had 7 in our party and I called beforehand to ask if that was ok, and they said absolutely. The reason they say 6 in the cabana is because of how much seating is inside.

How many people do you have booked in your room? Could you just add their names to your reservation? We added my friend and her 2 children to our room reservation so that they could have room keys and stay in the cabana with us for the day. We also got extra Fast Passes this way, as they were running the deal where you get FPs if you are an annual pass holder. It was a win-win-win :-)

Yes, this is the best route if you have room to add them to the reservation. I also agree to just call and ask.

We already have 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) in a standard room so at capacity. Otherwise that is a great idea.

I obviously wouldn't sneak them in, that is why I was looking into paying for the cabana rental, I thought that might purchase entry to the pool as such. I will call them and ask just in case.

Will you please tell us what you find out.

On busy days they do check Room Key Cards because Yes, the rule is only HOTEL GUESTS at the pool... cabana rental or not doesn't matter. You CAN register the guests to your hotel room (up to max occupancy). Whether someone "got away with it or not" I would not give others that advice. Because a busy day that they are checking would ruin their day. Also think about how overcrowded the pools would be if every room brought in another outside party of guests to the pool.

The cabana rental occupancy is just letting you know there is room for a specified amount of guests.

Yes, I agree. However not sure how many people would be willing to spend $185 to spend a couple of hours at another hotels pool....
