I'm arriving at MCO tomorrow at 5:45pm and taking DME to AKV. I'm thinking it's probably going to be 7:00 by the time I get there. I have an ADR at Narcoossee's at 8:10, but I need to go to Guest Services at MK first to get a DDE card. My question is this: If I take a cab to MK, is it going to take me to the front gate or somewhere else that's going to make it difficult for me to get in and out fairly quickly to catch the boat to GF?

A cab to the MK will only get you to the TTC, where you'd then have to take the monorail/boat to the MK. Instead, you could have the cab take you to the Contemporary and walk over to the MK from there.

That's what I was afraid of :scared: I'm not at all sure that I'm going to be able to get there for my ADR, but I don't want to lose the 20% DDE discount on my very first meal! What to do, what to do :confused3 I've been trying for weeks to change the ADR to a little later, to no avail :sad1:

AFAIK, it doesn't have to be MK Guest Services. You should be able to go to any park's GS window, as well as Downtown Disney.

You could try to get a bus from your resort to Epcot, then after you get your DDE card head for the monorail; change to the Resorts monorail at the TTC and exit at the Grand Floridian.

Yes, you can take a cab to any open GS location (MK-via-TTC-then-monorail-or-ferry-to-park-entrance, Epcot, DtD, maybe DHS), but then you have to factor in the cost of the cab - is your discount going to exceed whatever you pay in fares/tips?

Or take the bus to MK. Once you get there, take care of the DDE at the outside Guest Services. (This may take awhile if there is a line). Then catch the motor launch (small boat) to GF (weather permitting). It will drop you off on the dock right next to Narcoosees.

If you feel better taking the cab, take it to the Contemporary. Walk to MK for Guest Services and then take the boat to GF.

If you are a little late for your ADR it won't matter.

If you have any flight or transportation delays, you probably won't make it and will have to give the ADR up. I do not know if Narcoosees has an open kitchen or any "counter" seating but you could always walk in late and try that, it's great for solos. If they don't - Citricos does.

I was curious as to how your trip went. I thought that you might be cutting it a little close getting around on your first night. Hope it went well. We have been going to WDW for 30+ years and have enjoyed them all. Hope you did also. It is a magical place.:dance3:

I've actually been thinking about taking a bus to DHS or EP (whichever comes first) and then cabbing it to GF. Another option would be taking a cab to GF, monorail to MK, then boat back to MK. Does that sound do-able? My thinking is that a cab to the front door puts me "in the building," and I think the resort monorail runs in the right direction (GF straight to MK). If that's not right, obviously this won't work.

When I talked to Disney Dining earlier, she said that I should just show up, even if I'm late. She said that a lot of people don't cancel their ADRs and since I'm traveling solo, it might not be a problem. :confused3

Jamie!!! It's Tara from the May DISMeet in Japan!

I took a cab to MK in May (from offsite) & it drops you at the cab parking area of the TTC - you have to walk across the parking lot & then to the TTC - it doesn't even drop you off right by the TTC. I wouldn't want to do this in the dark!

Are you going in December? I see a ticker there for Holiday decorations, not sure if you're going then or not. I'll be down 12/4-7.

Have a great trip tomorrow!

Tara -- hi :wave2:

Yes, I'm going in December with a fellow DISer redbudlover, who lives about 30 minutes away from me, and we've become good friends after meeting here and having a couple of meals together in May! :goodvibes We'll be at BC 12/2-8. Where are you staying? Is it a solo trip?

I don't think I'll do the TTC route, so I'm exploring options. I'm leaning towards taking a cab to GF, monorail to MK for DDE card and then back to GF by boat for dinner. Hopefully, check-in at AKV won't take forever. I need to leave my backpack with bell services since I'm thinking about going over to MK for EMH for a little while after dinner.

I'm at the Dolphin - so we're within walking distance of each other in December! I'm heading down with a girlfriend - no kids! Marsha will be down there as well those dates, staying at Pop, she was just there last week & I'm catching up on her latest trip report.

Have a fun, safe trip tomorrow & we'll figure out a meeting spot after you return!
