cab from pop ....beer run

looking for the cheapest way to do this. We are a grand gathering and I am sure some of the guys in our group would enjoy a cold beer after a day at the parks. How can I get a couple of cases of beer to us at POP? I looked into garden grocer but you need a $40 worth of groceries, we are going at free dining so that is not necesary. I was thinking maybe somebody taking a cab to a local store. what would be are best option? About how much would a cab be? thanks!!!

I would just buy the beer at POP. By the time you pay for roundtrip cab fare you won't be saving much money.

i say save the cab fare and order $40 worth of beer , but i guess it depends on the length of your stay and how many of the guys will be enjoying a brew with you. if a couple of cases and a cab ride end up costing $40 anyway you may as well have the store deliver, and have them add on a bag or two of pretzels or chips if you need to reach the minimum price.

where do they sell beer at POP? we will be staying at POP for the first time in august, but we will have a rental car and planned on stopping at the gas station on property for any quick snacks or drinks we need. if they sell in the food court that is even better.

Oh we coould easily reach $40 worth of beer you need $40 worth of groceries before you can add alcohol

I didn't see where anyone mentioned they can find beer at normal prices at the Hess station over by the Swan/Dolphin across from MGM or at the Hess station across from Downtown Disney.

Agree. The cab will not want to take you there--as the crow flies it's maybe a mile. Many options for dealing with this, one being take a cab from a distant or complicated place--e.g. DTD or AK--back to Pop, and have it stop at Hess on Buena Vista by the Boardwalk on the way.

Taking a cab every now and then can be a great cheap luxury at the World--especially if it lets you aovid the buses at DTD which can be a pain...

Do cabs have an option here? I thought they had to take you wherever you want to go. Besides, with the ride over, the waiting time while you get the beer, and the ride back, it should make for a reasonable fare.

Just curious--what kind of beer did you have in mind?? Your choices may be somewhat limited at POP and the Hess station.

I agree on the Hess station. We do this almost every trip. Send a two or three of the guys on the Disney bus to Downtown Disney. They need to get off at the Pleasure Island stop. When exiting the bus, turn right instead of left and you'll see the Hess Station right across the street. Proceed to the crosswalk, enter the store and purchase whatever they need. Soft Drinks and water are also real world prices there. They might even be able to purchase a styrofoam cooler.

Then walk back to the bus, ride back to POP and you have your important 12 oz arm weights.

The PI bus stop for POP is the closest one to that Hess station, so not much walking at all. No cab fare and no delivery charge.

Is everyone in your group taking Magical Express? Because if someone is using a car service many of them make one stop for groceries, and you could pick up the beer then. Linda
