Just curious on what the average cab cost would be from OC Airport to Dinseyland. Would it be cheaper/easier/possible to grab a cab to your hotel or to try to get a shuttle service?

(Silly question, I know, but I live on the other side of the country and have only ridden in a cab once in my life!)

You can ask for the flat rate for a cab to your hotel from the airport. I think it's about $35 now but I'm sure someone has done it recently and will chime in.

The shuttle is cheaper, depending on how many are in your party.

I love flying into John Wayne, it's smaller, closer and much more friendly than LAX.

Well, based on the distance (about 10 miles) you could probably count on $25-$30 including tip for a cab ride. Your only problem is that you might have to pay again to get to your hotel.

Not sure where you are staying, but many of the area hotels run limited shuttles to DL. As in, maybe 2 or 3 a day at different times. Same with pick up from DL. So, you might want to call ahead to your hotel and find out when the shuttles head to DL, and when they pick up. Then if you do take a cab, you could catch the shuttle back to your hotel.

Having said all that, are you travelling with luggage? Not sure how taking the cab to DL would help you if you have bags to deal with.

Finally, many hotels also have shuttles from the airport. I'd check to see if you can get a free ride to your hotel, and either take a cab or shuttle to DL from there.

It is easier to take a cab.

A cab costs 35 or 40 bucks each plus tip.

I think a shuttle is 15 bucks each way? So, for 3 or more people, a cab is cheaper. But not easier.

We take a cab everytime and have always found it to be easy. About $35-40 is right. Are you going straight to the park or your hotel?

Thanks for the input everyone! We'll be staying at the Candy Cane Inn--I will definately call ahead and see if they have a shuttle service. We will have luggage, but will only be there 1/2 a week and are light packers--will probably only have 2 suitcases and a backpack between the 3 of us.

Any time I've flown (which has only been twice in my lifetime) there have been cabs basically lined up waiting to take people places....is that generally the case at the OC airport too should we choose that option?

I tell you, I feel like a complete Disney rookie trying to plan a trip to DL vs WDW!

We're renting a car for our trip. We got a full size car through Hotwire from Hertz for under $140, including fees and everything. The shuttle would have been $120 for the 4 of us each way, and we'd have needed to rent a car for 2 days anyway.

Cabs are lined up right outside of baggage claim. We always take a cab, and it is super-easy. Have a great trip! I'm sure you'll love Disneyland!

I hope so. We've been to WDW 18 times and always talked about going to Disneyland...just to say we did! I'm trying to put together and plan (and pay for!) a surprise trip for DH and DD7 for Christmas.:hyper:

The Candy Cane is marvelous but they don't have an airport shuttle. We always just cab it there. The Candy Cane does have a park shuttle though and it is wonderful. It is exclusive to the Candy Cane so no extra stops and they run on time which is wonderful! You can also walk to DL from the CC but the shuttle is wonderful for the feet!
