does anyne know first off if they are on commission? We had an awesome girl book our Disney trip but then left the TA. The girl who took over did not contact or return any emails. And when i finally called to get her to change a ADR for me(Previous TA did them for me!) She told me to do it myself.
Anyways, i told her when i went in the the office that i would like to get some info on cruising for later in the year and asked her to put something together for me. This was before Xmas, and i asked again about a month ago. So, obviously, i won't be booking through her, and wondered if i should just use the Online agency instead or try a different office?

Yes they are. I would try a different office or try speaking to the office manager, discuss your concerns and ask him/her to refer you to another agent in the office.

Yes, they make commissions but not on ADR.
As tmli has said, ask the agency manager to suggest another TA that may be of help or try another agency perhaps.

Good Luck!
I am sure you will find another TA that will meet your needs...

Same thing happened to me....

I asked for a quote and she never returned my call. S

I am a TA and always respond to requests for a quote, but I know that many are inundated with requests and often they prioritize them, and I imagine, the not so profitables perhaps get lost in the process! Doesn't make it right at all...but I suppose it can happen. Tooooo many TA's out there to waste time with those that do not respond to you!

Good Luck!

thanks, anyone have the name of CAA Ta in Hamilton/Stoney Creek/Burlington that they have dealt with that you would recommend?

We have book thru the London Office on Wellington. She is an awesome TA. She answers questions quickly usually via email, and when I booked my dining last year she said ..."You should have let me do that for you" I told her I did not mind as I had fun organising that on my own. We have reccommended her to many. If you want her info PM me. I had the same problem with a TA from CAA office in Sarnia she gave me a quote was going to check into some things and get back to me that was over a year ago. I try London office and it was a totally different story. The TA that we booked thru for 2004 and 2005, laughed at me when I called in March for quotes in Nov for last fall, thinking I was jumping the gun abit. I was so furious at her! We were doing the dining plan and wanted to book at the 180 mark, plus I always pay for our trip as soon as our income tax return comes in so I wanted to make sure I had enough to cover the costs. I took great pride in telling her that I had received an unbelievable quote from the TA at CAA. Then I said to her that if you want to do the dining plan you need to book your requests early ie 180 days out to secure them for the right date and appropriate time, she seemed shocked. I will never book thru her again! You would think she would be a little more accomodating considering the first year we drove 22hrs only to be told by the hotel that they had no record of our fully paid reservation! Oh well we are absolutely pleased with the jem we found when we chose to shop around. I just hope she never retires.....if she went elsewhere I would follow her! TTFN Kat

I am also a TA and agree whole heartedly. My suggestion is to go with a TA who specialty is Disney. I personally only book Disney.

Most regular TA don't understand the ADR's and why so much planning has to go into a WDW vacation.

I am also somewhat of a Disney Specialist at our office and agree whole heartedly....I don't care how long a TA has been in the business....Disney is a whole different ball of wax! Insider tips and info, making ADR's, sharing personal experience from their own vacations (not just fams), this is the way an agent sets themselves apart in my opinion! We have people in our office who are as well versed in European tours as I am in Disney....this is what makes a well rounded office.

Feel free when looking for a TA to ask questions, qualify them as someone who knows more than you! Thats not to say they aren't a great TA...just perhaps they specialize in a different part of the world!

I go to the one on fairview in Burlington and I have used vicky and Johnna and they both are GREAT! I used Johnna this year she actually called Disney to do pricing for me with me right on the phone waiting

Does profitable mean a reservation in a value vs. a reservation in deluxe or shorter length of stay vs. a longer length of stay etc.? Just curious :)

I think when I said that.. I was trying to fathom the motivation, or lack thereof, for TA's not to respond to pricing a Disney Vacation Pkg as commissions are not as great as some other types of vacations that might book. In rethinking it, I am inclined to agree with some of the other posters here that perhaps it is more of an experience and product knowledge issue.

In my office, I receive multiple e-mails a week from OTHER TA's in the office asking me about Disney as they know little about what there is to offer having not had the many years of personal experience that I have had and really, what better way to get the first hand know-how? They refer to me as the 'Disney Guru' which is kind of funny...given that many of them have been in this business 20 years or more! It's just not their expertise. For me, it's more of a labour or love and always has been. I work primarily for a Cruise Agency but I am about 50/50 myself between Cruises and WDW and enjoy putting both kinds of vacations together equally.

This is why I work with Dreams Unlimited. Planning a trip to WDW with DU was the easiest vacation I have ever planned and taken in my life. This is why I do not work with the Alberta Motor Association any longer. Sounds like the ones down east have more experience due to the proximity of WDW from Ontario. Glad to hear that the ones on this board are so devoted to Disney and planning!
