Caa + pin

Hello

I've tried to read through the stickies and several pages of posts, but haven't found what I'm looking for - please forgive me if it's right there in front of me!

I've got the PIN for free dining to December 17th. I know that only one discount can be used at a time, but what would happen if

1) I had a reservation (for hotel and tickets) through CAA
2) then called Disney to add the PIN for free dining?

Does the Disney system show that I booked through CAA (AAA) and thus won't let me have the 2nd discount? Is it honour system?

If you booked through CAA, meaning they acted as your travel agent, you can't call Disney about your reservation. The agency "owns" your reservation until you check in. Every Disney reservation has a 3 letter code associated with it. There is only room in the booking system for one code (and hence one discount). You would need to have your CAA agent remove their code and enter the Disney pin code in it's place. This way, Disney makes certain that only one discount code is used per reservation. Hope that makes sense.

You were kidding about the honor system, right? Do a quick poll on this board and see how many people would try to use free dining and their 40% off pins, if they were allowed to!!

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah... I kind of figured that there was something a little more concrete than the honour system - just didn't know enough about how the reservation system worked to understand it. Thanks a lot for the detail - I hadn't realized that CAA would 'own' the reservation, that's great to know though!
