Hi everyone

I decided today that I am going to upgrade my 6day MYW non expiring p/h to an annual pass when I arrive on March 5th at DTD :)

I called CRO and got a lovely rep who has reserved 2 nights at the AP rate of $79.00 per night at Pop :cheer2:

I called my CAA office to request that my current reservation be reduced by the 2 nights I have managed to secure at the AP rate :surfweb:

The agent told me that there may be a cancellation penalty of $100? :confused3

I looked over my documents (I had paid in full back in October) and it says that cancellation is without penalty until 6 days prior to arriving :confused3

So, I am confused :confused3

Is this a normal cancellation fee by CAA?
I am still keeping the rest of the reservation intact (just reducing it by 2 days)

Anyone have any idea's if this is correct?

Sorry I don't know but that doesn't sound right to me either!?!!? Congrats on the AP.

Within 45 days on a package Disney imposes cancellation fees not CAA. Depends on the number of days, and sometimes Disney will waive it but rarely!
That is why she said "may", until she calculates the days and compares it to the cancellation/change fee schedule and then finally speaks to Disney. TA's can also book AP rates.....sometimes if making a change like that on the same file Disney will not charge the penalty.

CAA has no change/cancellation fee for the scenario you described.

Here is the official policy from Disney regarding Cancellations/Changes. It looks like your penalty may be $50.

CANCELLATION OF RESERVATION - If the reservation is cancelled, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees and other amounts owed, will be refunded. For a cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $100 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers; provided, however, that for a cancellation of a Grand Gathering experience add-on option made 5 days or less prior to the experience date, no refund will be given.
Guest will be responsible for any cancellation fees assessed by an airline. In the case of a non-refundable airline ticket, the cancellation fee is equal to the entire ticket price. Cancellation of a refundable airline ticket must be made at least 1 business day prior to guest departure. Vacation insurance is nonrefundable. Upon any cancellation, the charge for vacation insurance will be added to the other applicable cancellation fees.
CHANGES TO RESERVATION - For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers, will be charged. Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change. If air travel has been ticketed, guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline

Thanks tmli for the info  I was hoping you'd reply as you know a lot about CAA :thumbsup2

My reservation with CAA is for room only, not a package, this is why I'm thinking there shouldn't be a cancellation penalty, but I just wanted to check on the Dis to see if others had run into the same issue

Thanks again :flower3:

If its room only there will be no penalty....my guess is the agent was confused with the policy. I am sure when the TA changes it with Disney it will be fine!

Hi Tracey

You were right :thumbsup2 Once the agent realised it was a room-only booking there was no cancellation fee.

I didn't know that CAA travel reps could book the AP discounted rooms for customers (I thought it had to be done by the AP passholder) This is good to know for the future ::yes::

Thanks for the info :thanks:
