Are the park hoppers that you can buy through AMA able to be put towards an annual passport at the park? If so, do they go by the price you pay at AMA? So will I have to bring my receipt?

You don't need the receipt.

Use the ticket a little first, before upgrading it. Then the current selling price (as posted above the ticket booths) is correctly used to compute how much you need to complete the upgrade.
