Wakeup time: 830am or so. I don't remember, but it was after 8am.
Today was a sightseeing day. My uncle would be taking me, my dad, and my stepmom to other scenic points near where he lives. The stops included:
the Wedge
Laguna Beach
Hemmingway's Cove
Dana Point
I won't go in to specifics about each, but they each offered amazing views of the coastline, landscape, and Pacific Ocean. Some houses, for some reason, are built on stilts and are on cliffs. Sure the view is nice, but wouldn't that be just a bit....SCARY?
One vicious mudslide, tsunami, or typhoon (hurricane) and those houses would be decimated. No thanks, imo.
Dinner that evening was amazing. It was most of the family. All but two of my cousins showed up. One came late (directly from work), but the other two had dance classes that they were in that they could not miss. Oh well.
The restaurant was called Maggiano's. Italian food, yum. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The place is always packed, out server told us. Always. They have an option which is for "family style" dining. It's great for large parties. For a fixed rate for adults and children (lower rate, but still) get to partake in a feast. You choose two appetizers, two salads, two pasta dishes, two main entrees, and two desserts. You can have as much as you want during each course. Here's what we picked:
Appetizers:
Crispy fried zucchini & stuffed mushrooms. Double yum.
Salads:
Caesar & Spinach. Caesar is caesar; the spinach was awesome, though.
Pasta:
Four cheese ravioli & baked ziti w/italian sausage. Double yum. The ravioli was exceptionally good.
Entrees:
Chicken Parmesan & Salmon w/lemon. Both were fantastic.
Dessert:
NY style cheesecake & tiramisu. You really can't go wrong here.
IMO, this was my favorite meal of the vacation. The atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent, plus having nearly everyone there upped the energy/vibe. Many of my younger (non-blood) cousins had never tried some of the dishes that were picked, but they loved almost every one of them. There were plenty of leftovers, which one of my cousins attacked the leftovers like a rabid wolverine. My eldest cousin & I ultimately finished the remaining cheesecake & tiramisu.
Pics to amaze and confuse you!!!
