Since hours for Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9 at CA are from 10-8, would you-DL experts, assume that there will not be any soft openings for WOC those nights? Thanks!

Would not assume that. They are perfectly capable of doing a soft opening show at 9PM when DCA closes at 8PM. We'll see.

If so,do you think you would you be able to stay in the park to see it? Thanks!

Wait, I'm confused......

So the park "officially" closes at 8pm, but if they do a soft opening of WOC you can stay in the park anyway and watch it at 9pm? If this happens, how do you know that its going to occurr....just stand around in the area and wait to see what happens, or do they make an announcement of some sort?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I might be there that week and would love to see the soft opening!!:)

A soft opening is when somthing opens without notice. It is not intended to draw crowds. It is more used to see how things work when few people are there. Also if the park closes at 8 that doesn't mean they rush everyone out. While the attractions do not let more people in the park starts to slow down but is usually open for another hour for shopping.

If a soft opening for WoC takes place nobody other than management may know until just before the show. Maybe CM's will have an idea but they may not be told until noon or even the late afternoon as not to draw in every AP holder.

The idea of a soft opening is not to test the show, but also test the crowd dynamics.

Commonly soft openings are done for CM's, employee families, and VIPS.

When the parks close that usually just means the rides stop operating. Shops stay open. Some dining remains open.

The rumor this summer is that DCA will "close" at 10PM but have a second showing of WOC at 10:15. After the park closes.

If they do a soft opening show of WOC it does not have to happen at 9PM. It is a test. They may announce a soft opening for 8:30PM then delay it until 9PM at the last minute. Or cancel it altogether. Soft openings are tests and that means Disney is under less obligation (really no obligation) to deliver the attraction to guests who might wait in line for it.

Further, if Disney wants to hold a test soft opening at 9PM even though DCA closes at 8PM they can do it.

How would one know? I don't know in this case. I would ask guest services at DCA first. I would have to guess Disney would make some kind of announcement - or no one would show up which kind of defeats the purpose of the soft opening.
